Hi dear friend,

This is my entry for the Friday's theme about connotation. Autumn is a season that evokes many emotions ranging from joy to sadness. After a festival of colors, the grayness takes hold before the whiteness of winter. I converted the photo in B&W for emphasizing the mood evoked by the end of Summer.
Thanks at Tomek for the idea and Linda for the interesting link she has shared in the forum.

Raw photo converted in JPG. I worked with PS CS 5 for the B&W conversion using channels colors to get every grey nuances.

Thank you for viewing. I always appreciate to read your useful comments. Have a nice weekend!

Olá Annie
your work transform a good nature photo in a truth feeling of lost of color and vibrance. ..as life had abandoned the form, the shape, the body.
Photos are a language, a way to communicate,,,and you did it with a shot of beauty in the good light control , sharpness and good b/w tonalities.
Light and beauty a great way to give new meanings, connotations
Um abraço

Hi Annie,
A nice B&W presentation of this Nature shot where you are showing the decaying of the flowers while a very healthy one is dominant.
A lovely bokeh BG and good light management which leaving the gray tones present.
Good work.

Hi Annie, with the visual I see Autumn flowers in degrees of ending their cycle, with one still holding on to life. The connotations that I feel from this image,is winter will soon be here, snow will cover these flower beds, color will be removed from the gardens & soon the short daylight hours will be with usas will the coldness of our winters.Great one for the theme.
Regards

Ron

Hi Annie

You've get great result with that small lens!
The B&W mode washed out colors and remains great composition!
The bokeh is busy but well formed!

Hi Annie,

You're capturing well this nature scene by good focus, excellent B/W tone and a good composition. So, it's interesting to see a set of daisy flower with beautiful harmony. It's good at the contrast of black and white, too. And, it's tasteful for only one flower with petal and others center only.

Regards,
mikio

Bonjour Annie,

Magnifique composition pour le thème, j'aime ceux qui sont en noir et blanc particulièrement.
Le cadrage serré est splendide, belle lumière et netteté.
Du très bon travail, un excellent week end.

Hi Annie, I like the use of the different stages of growth in the flowers and the b&w adds a slightly dark mood to it. Fiona

I LOVE this Annie!! Amazing how beautiful this is in BW when we normally see flower shots in color! I love the old feel to the shot. I still don't really understand the theme, but I think your processing has made it work well. The BW gives a tired washed out, end of season look, which is a connotation! Good job here!

Hello Annie

I like the entry. A work of art for the placement of the flowers in your POV. Good contrast in your B/W conversion. Very well done.

Ola Annie
The Autumn, as you say in note, has an universal connotation value, and your perfect presentation in b/w, with a perfect manage of the few light, emphasizes that value.
Excellent entry to the theme.
Have a great we my friend.

Bonsoir Annie

So refreshing to see the occasional b&w image after countless colour versions of flowers. The b&w also better conveys the lifelessness of the dead flower. Good bokeh & superb use of a shallow dof. Bon weekend!

Hello Annie, the b/w is the perfect way to share this shot, in this theme;it has a much greater impact.
How did you manage the sharp focus on the flower and the dead head, with everything else in soft focus?
I would not have expected a bokeh to be so effective in b/w,this is lovely.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Bonjour Annie,

Heureux Weekend.

Yolande

I like the view you have caught here, dear Annie!

Good use of natural light and a well thought color treatment to the floral scene.
The sharpness and focus are well done, and clarity is well shown.
Nice white bordered frame also enhances the overall beauty of the picture.

Thanks and regards,
Paras
