For this week's theme - I took a photo of my son (Michaelman as he's known here on TL) earlier today outside my house... A fish-eye lens with on-camera flash (Nikon Speedlight SB800) with diffuser... The camera was on the ground with me triggering the shutter.

The first attempt had the skateboard hitting my lens and smashing off the built-on lenshood!!!! Oh well... It's a Nikon so survived as expected ;-)

you are one brave man! lol! I would not let my kid skate AT my expensive big girl camera! This is fabulous! You win! Excellent shot, killer extreme angles, flash is a mute point here, love it! No other way! Great shot!
B-)

Bonjour David,

Excellent action shot, I wish someone would have took you taking this picture, it would have made a great second action shot of WhiteKnight in action. Composition is excellent with a well managed BG, fill flash is also well controled. Glad that your Nikon armor protected you against a possibly fatal impact. But not fatal for the lens as I can see. Excellent contribution to the theme and TFS.

Hi David,
Awesome action shot, everything appears to be perfect: timing, POV, light and even the athlete's look (right into the lens!) is spot on. Impressive result! Will add this picture to my favourites.
Hans

Yesssss, now we're in the amazing avenue...))
A perfect example of a true "decisive moment". Everything "seems" right. No odd things that would take away the attention of the viewer. A real pleasure to look at...the kind of shot, you wish, you would have capture yourself "refering to myself".

In the same line of thought...I share with Linda, the idea of having any equipement damage in the process...dream of the day, that wouldn't matter..)))

Beautifull use of fill flash in combination with well exposed background. You're great at what you do David.

Always a pleasure looking at your shots..a true pleasure.

Hi David, great action shot from a terrific pov. The fill flash worked nicely. i well know the hazards of little accidents when filming kids.. Fiona

A wonderful action shot with amazing focus and contrasts, DAvid!

The light is best part of the picture and colors are nice.
Your son is a great would-be-model, facing the camera boldly.
Well caught emotions and mood in the scene.

A perfect entry to Friday's theme!

Kind regards,
Paras

Hi David,

The most greater shot for the "In action's theme!
Fish eye, fill flash, exposure low, POV and a willing skatter son of course, all things work finely here!
Masterpiece!

Annie

wow hope the lens wasnt scratched! really neat dynamic shot, with such a great point of view captured, excellent exposure of the foreground and background with your flash use,
well done,
thanks,
scott

Wow!! Now that's capturing the action!!! Great one ... even at the risk of damage to equipment :)
Your timing was perfect, and having Michael look right into the lens is great too. Love tthe (summer) colors. Is this right in your compound?
Trudy

Fab pic of Michaelman. What an angle and how daring to risk your gear like that! Great lighting of his face and I love the way he is looking straight at the lens.

Familiar BG too!

UNREAL Beautiful result Glad you didnt do permanent damage to the Nikon camera or lens.Certainly god enough to enter a competition. TFS
regards
David

Hi David,

Missed this one. The lens barrel distortion here is just awesome. Good sharpness & upward pov with excellent colour & saturation. Good graphism against the blue sky of the skateboard boy. Tfs!

The model has had a remarkable influence on the attractiveness of the photo: He seems to know exactly which point of the lens should have he looked at.
Eye catching colours in a full of details image and very good perspective. TFS.

yet another flyer... must be in the blood... Nicely done; again... like a boss. Timing is spot on and I like the aesthetic use of the speedlight... Not a fan of flash meself... but here you use it in a very creative way... very, very hip... yeah... you got the right stuff here Capt Jessop... Man, I wish me ol' man shot pics of me when I was boardin'

Cheers,

DM Brown
