Hello Everyone…

2 hours ago at Souq MadinaT Jumeirah … the beauty of modern architecture that portrays the real culture and History of the Emirates… a place, to shop, dine and take as many shots as you want! Ok, now it’s Hot, and Humid! So a bit of a struggle when shooting outside… hence preferably Shorts/skirt is a better option than “Jeans”….
Well I didn’t follow my own advice……………… unfortunately!

Location
Madinat Jumeirah is located along one kilometer of private beachfront adjacent to Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Burj Al Arab and Wild Wadi Water Park, and is a half hour drive from Dubai International Airport.

History
Developer and architect, Mirage Mille, took 36 months to complete construction from the initial drawing boards to the opening of the first phase of the resort, Mina A’ Salam, in September 2003. The vision was to recreate life as it used to be for residents along Dubai Creek, complete with waterways, abras, wind towers and a bustling souk.

Structure and Exterior Design
Madinat Jumeirah is the new city of Arabia in Dubai; the resort is Arabian-styled featuring UAE architecture and design.

It encompasses three components; two hotels; and clusters of 29 traditional Arabic summer houses nestling among the gardens and waterways, all built around the souk, the traditional centre of Arabic life at the heart of the resort. The resort also provides conference, incentives and banqueting facilities, dining options, the souk, 7 royal villas and a spa.

Mina A’ Salam or ‘The Harbour of Peace’ was the first grand boutique hotel of Madinat Jumeirah to be completed, and features 292 rooms and suites.

Al Qasr, which literally translates to ‘the Palace’, comprises 292 rooms and suites, designed to reflect a Sheikh’s summer residence.

The traditional courtyard summer houses of “Old Arabia” have inspired the stand-alone, two-storey residential retreats of Dar Al Masyaf. Each of the 29 ‘houses’ features 8 - 11 rooms and suites which are extended across the resort grounds, surrounded by landscaped gardens, with some located on the beachfront.

Linked by waterways to all resort areas, guests can travel from Dar Al Masyaf by water taxi to Al Qasr, Talise Spa, the bustling Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Mina A’ Salam, one of the many restaurants, or any event held within the resort.

Hello dear Suzy.
Emirates, spent 5 years 'down there'. Still in my heart. Good times it where. Dispite of the terreble heat in summer, working at least 66 hrs a week in dessert.
One afternoon and evening in the cities/ hotels made that week fast forgotten, haha
Can see you took this in 'blue hour'. Sun is falling down fast over there.
Here at this moment longest daylight of the year. 22.30 and stil light outside.
Best regads from Jan.
ps, I hope you check the "comments" button, otherwise you miss my reply.

dear Suzy,
this dim dark blue sky makes those houses unreal indeed.
like ghost town, nobody there and no voice heard,
only strange wind says that;
the time has gone and the space has realized in your imaginative eyes, this is simply inspiration to your soul.
thank you for your wonder shot,
Akihisa

Hi Suzy,

Hi Suzy,
The teracota coloured buildings are a great subject to photograph particularly when you have the contrasting colours of the sky and cloud behind. Thanks for including the workshop, your changes are subtle and work well. TFS

I like the color palette as the dark blue sky
reinforces the architecture as well!
The balanced composition with good details,
good choice of time of day when the temperature
color of the light works in your favor here ...
Beautiful light and shadows.

Hi Suzy,
What an interesting place. I find it odd there's no life there which adds to the moodiness of the photo, along with your processing. Great moody shot, well done!

Greetings Suzy,
three years in the making,it must be quite a joy to visit.I can see you on the water taxis enjoying all the views & architecture this new city has to offer.
I like this image to the WS one,the colors are more suited for this location,I like that the courtyard or street is in the shadows, while the buildings architecture is detailed & bright. A peaceful mood you have presented with this scene.
TFS

Ron

Hi Suzy,
A wonderful picture of Jumairah, the warm light creates a wonderful mood. It's like a dreamy impression of the Middle East well captured and presented. The rule of thirds is well visible with the alley nicely positioned on one third of the left. One nit pick though, the shadows are quite dark. Made a WS were I adjusted the highlights and shadows, so with some increased brightness of the shadows on the foreground even this fine picture is improved.
Hans

Hello Suzy,

What a strange architecture! One would say a decoration for film! Framed well, excellent light!

Thank you for this share!

Hello Suzy,
A mad photo. Large composition owing to you. Excellent one sharp details with good observation. Very interesting and profsional composition.
Best regards.

Hi Suzy, instantly I was drawn to the wooden carts/stalls? looks like they are being ushered out of what looks like a ghost town, then I took a step back and saw the amazing detail in the buildings, they almost look too perfect to be real!!! and then there's the moody sky, even more sinister promise than the deserted streets. This shot definetely has tention like a showdown is about to take place.

Possibly the most technically sound image I have seen on TL, tfs.

Steve.

Hi Suzy,
This is really a photo from history books... The enlightment of the old buildings are fantastic, sharpness and clarity of your composition are excellent. I also like the strange colour of the sky, overall a perfect job, TFS!
Have a nice weekend!

Bonsoir Suzy,

Nice capture with wonderfull clouds. Great light with the sun going down. Shadows are a little deep, but can probably be recovered in post processing. Espacially if you shoot also in RAW. Beautifull contrast between the warm colors on the building and the coolness of the sky. TFS.
