[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken late morning from the 3rd floor of my new school with a bit of backlight on the clouds. The sun is at left. Still trying to download a useable version of Gimp that loads jpeg (2.8 doesn't). I'm using Photofiltre & Picasa in the meantime.

From Wiki: Palandöken Mountain (or Palandöken for short) is a 3,271 m (10,732 ft) high tectonic mountain in Erzurum Province, Turkey. The summit is at a distance of only 10 km (6 mi) from Erzurum city center, which itself extends at an elevation of 1,950 m (6,398 ft). On the road from Erzurum to the summit, the Palandöken ski resort is located at the mountain village called Başköy, 2,100 m (6,890 ft) high, and the distance between the station and the city is 4 km (2 mi).
The ski trail is the longest in Turkey. Because of the quality of the snow (a fine-grained light powder), steepness of the slopes and the length of the trail, Palandoken is known as the best mountain in Turkey for skilled skiers. The toughest run is on the backside of the mountain, known as the Ejder (Turkish for "Dragon") trail. Due to fog and risk of avalanche, the Ejder lifts and trails are sometimes closed. The skiing season may begin in November and last as long as until June. In 2008-2010 more lifts have been opened, now there are 8 in all, and the trails have been improved.
There are four hotels on the mountain: Polat Renaissance hotel, Dedeman hotel, Dedeman Ski Lodge, Palan Hotel and Xanadu Snow White. Because of the center's close proximity to Erzurum, visitors can also stay in hotels in Erzurum, where the range of hotel standards is wider.
A new ski resort has been constructed at the mountain village Konaklı, about 18 km (11 mi) from the city.

Bom dia Chris,
This scenario has a balance very well dosed, which means to me experience and sensitivity.
Here, nothing remains or missing.
Rgds,
R.

The landscape at far is simply beautiful though I am not a fan of such blocks in front of that, Chris!
Good sharpness and well caught contrasts within the picture.
Exposure and light are very well handled and details are amazing.
Overall, a nice job!

Kind regards,
Paras

Hi Chris

Please understand these are simply my personal opinions and are meant to be constructive and not cause any offence. And, of course, you have the option of accepting or rejecting my comments.

I like the sky with the dramatic clouds rolling over the hills. For me though, the foreground is a little too busy and lacks a real focal point for the eye to rest. Also, almost every vetical line is leaning to the left, this is most noticeable with the lamp post at the right hand side.

The image, though, is very sharp but maybe a tad underexposed, but perhaps hat my monitor.

Hi Chris,
The sky and snow are quite impressive and are well exposed, what I find unusual is that the lamppost in the centre is almost vertical but the building behind it looks like its falling over
cheers
Jack

Hi Chris, you always manage to present us with some original scenes wherever you are in the world; that is one of the things that I like about this site.
The smooth snow covered mountains in the bg immediately catch my eye,and the buildings seem out of place against the beauty of such nature.
Excellent DoF. Your higher vantage point was a good place to be.
Regards Jean.

Hi Chris,
A great shot, but I would have preferred a POV without the buildings in the front. On the other hand, you are showing the city and not just the mountains.
