There are many reasons to post a photo. Usually, I post mine for emotional reasons. When I had this meeting, me and my memory ( lessons of history in hight school), I felt I had met a very old friend. Over thousands of years wind and rain eroded layers of consolidate volcanic ash, tuff, to form this incredible landscape. From 4th to 13th AD occupants of this area ( Cappadocia, central Anatolia) dug tunnels into the exposed rocks and build houses, churches ( about 3 thousands). This was a unique moment ...I felt my interior world became bigger.
I hope you find some emotion too.
My Pre-Historic time (of the books too) was there, in front of me.

(By the way this is Goreme Valley.)

"Whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past; for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. This arises from the fact that they are produced by men who ever have been, and ever shall be, animated by the same passions, and thus they necessarily have the same results."
Machiavelli

What a gorgeous place !
Beautiful tones and details

The landscape is more than amazing and its history of erosion finally resulted into such wonderful structures standing tall in the whole area as far as you can see, Teresa!

Great focus and nicely management of light. The sharpness and higher POV worked well in this case.
The clarity is nice and color contrast is well done too.
Good work as always!

Um abracos,
Paras

Good learning of the history for me: how did they do it! nice shot too!

Hi Teresat,

This is an amazing place and you have captured it from a well chosen POV with excellent DOF. There are lots of interesting little details for the eye in these wonderful old dwellings, it is a shame there are cars in the square, but that is unavoidable. Have you considered this image in B/W with the contrast boosted? I think it would be an interesting experiment.

Regards

Joy

Hi Teresa
This is one amazing landscape shot I have ever seen where people live in the caves of volcanic eruptions which got so tough through the ages which becomes their living place and it was once reason of their destruction too, good DOF and superb sharpness..
My Best Wishes

Hi Teresat,
An unusual city scape with so many different architecture surrounded by these cave/houses.
I like the sepia toning with that touch of light green!
Avery original post.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Teresat,
Very detailed shot. This architecture blends in very well with the landscape. Interesting note on this as well. TFS.

R.

Hello my dear Teresa :)

Houses in the colour of sand, they look as they would kby to be built from him.
The city as from the tale in gentle, pastel colours, he looks fantastically.
The very interesting, showy composition in the perfect light.
I congratulate on the splendid realization.

Friendly greetings.
Barbara

Amicalement.

Yolande

incredible landscape with amazing shapes and structures enhanced by simplicity of colour

Wow Teresa , just as i saw those peculiar-looking boulders , the whole at first seems to be a landscape from another planet what makes me think otherwise is the presence of a town among them hey ,the builders chose to erect their houses among the rocks , this making the view and location of course very special from higher up at a distance ! Hard to forget this once registered in your head !
I can understand your inner you growing larger after seeing this for the first time whereupon remembering fron geoography and history classes how this whole landscape has become to be what it is today and how the people have come to settle in the region buildings that many churches in the cliffs a feeling of déjà vu indeed from the books enlightens you and emotions begin to rise from within , oh yes an amazing sight to behold , one you caught on lens in superb tones , assimilating such gleaming panorama for real is like eating the sweetest cherries , that is how deliciously good this is to me , ha ha !
Thank you for sharing my friend , a great-looking photograph ,
Um abraço,
Carol

Excellent, the landscape and the buildings form an organic whole impossible to separate. The light is perfect to bring out all the detailes without creating harsh shadows.Friendly regards Otto.

Hi Teresat, An excellent perspective to show this ancient landscape which has been used for many years to create most interesting township. Your quote from Machiavelli is very appropriate. TFS. Murray

Olá Teresa,
That's an amazing place. How surrounding stones are erected from earth feels like man made architecture. And the building looking relatively newer are looking interesting. Beautifully taken in lense in great details and excellent PoV. Well done my friend. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Teresat

An incredible vista & fusion of both natural & anthroprogenic constructions. In Canada these are called hoodoos. Superb repetition of patterns & shapes. Tfs!

Hi Teresat,

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent clarity, so it's impressive and interesting to see the tunnel into exposed rocks with unique shape, built houses in Cappadocia. It is interesting that the house and the rock are carrying out the same color, too.
Thanks for sharing for this good photo.

Regards,
mikio

Dear Teresa

Hello Teresa.

Emotions a plenty.
The eroded rock reminds me when i visited The Lost City Of Petra in Jordan. Their too, dwellings lost in wind and rain, the mind starts to drift with the surrounding sands that shift too easily.

Tones of sand here catch the eye and mind too, we see windows and doorways to another world. to look at the layers of sand in the pinnacles that are left, shows whats gone before.

A glimpse of the past, a glimpse of the future.
Very well shared Teresa.

Olà Teresa!
I visited Cappadocia me too. What a wonderful "world"! I agree with you : what an emotion! Turchia is one of the parts of the world where I would come back with great pleasure.
Your capture is excellent, because it shows a large "zone" and one can have an idea about the caracteristic of this place.
DOF is superb. One can see the details even BG.
Perfect exposure, which shows the real, natural colors.
Very well done my friend: congratulations.
Nice Sunday and um abraço.
ciao! Vanda

Ciao Teresa, great POV on amazing place, beautiful composition with fascinating rocks formation and old village, excellent clarity, wonderful soft colors and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
