[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As the weathers not been so good recently I've had the chance to experiment indoors and this is the outcome of one such experiment. This started life as a picture of a smoke trail from an incense stick (set up: - black card as back drop, incense stick about 30cm from black card, flash off camera and set up half way between card and incense stick, manually fired upwards to back light the smoke, Camera pre-focused and the exposure set at one second to give me time to manually fire the flash, the room was dark).

After the shoot, I opened the RAW file in CS3 and didn't alter any settings in camera raw just went straight to photoshop. Again I didn't alter the photo with levels etc, but made a selection of part of the smoke and duplicated it three times rotating each accordingly. Having positioned the four parts of the shot I then hand coloured the separate parts, using the brush tool set to colour mode.

Hi Andrew,

Well this is one artistic experiment. Great outcome indeed. Very rarly seen here on TL.
Well done!

Regards,

Edwin

Hi Andrew,

Very interesting piece of art. Excellent effectt - seems like macro of insect with mirror effect... ;] Good colours and clarity. Well done & TFS :]

Greetings from Poland,
Pawel

Excellent. I have played with smoke in the past and have some posted. Did the same as you with 4 duplicates pieced together, but didn't individually color the different areas like you. Doing that really adds to it.

Great composition and colors. I may have to go back and try some more after seeing this.

TFS,
David

PS-it certainly is legit. It started off as a photo and nothing on TL forbids post-processing, art, framing, etc.
