The meadow brown is a common butterfly. It is dark brown in colour with an eye-spot on each forewing. Females can be distinguished from males by the presence of an orange colouration on the forewings. In both sexes, the underside of the wings are paler in colour. The caterpillar is yellowish-green with a dark green underside, and is covered in long white hairs. A yellowish-white line passes along each side and the tail tapers into two whitish projections.

This butterfly is found throughout Europe reaching east to Turkey (everywhere) and Iran.
As the common name suggests, this butterfly was once closely associated with meadows. It is also found in downland, woodland rides, heaths, road verges and waste ground and is also found in urban habitats including gardens, parks and cemeteries.

The meadow brown is a univoltine species, which means that one generation is produced a year. The adults are on the wing from the end of May to the late August (in Turkey), and females lay eggs either on blades of grass or in vegetation close to grasses. The eggs hatch after around three weeks and the caterpillars feed throughout the day, retreating down into the grasses in spells of cold weather. They overwinter among the grass stems and feed at night the following spring. The pupae are attached to grass stems during May, and adult butterflies emerge in around a month, starting the whole cycle once more.

Salam Bayram

Good macro with nice composition and well managed background and foreground, seems like a 3D view...
Just in my opinion the DOF is not enough here because the tips of the wings are out of focus, a closer aperture may help

Best wishes
Alireza

Bonjour Bayram
Superbes couleurs, une composition parfaite qui parfume le regard.
Comme une feuille d'automne déposé par le vent,
cet élégant papillon semble faire la cour à dame fleur.
Amicalement.

Hello Bayram,
The butterfly's wings are so sharp that it is easy to admire the depiction of well defined lines and veins. The smooth b/g is noise free and showcases this lepidopteran composition well. My best regards.
Danilo

THis is a wonderful capture of the meadow brown.
The focus is sharp and the colours accurate. I love how you have captured the details of the contrasting textures of the body and wings.

Selam Bayram Hoca,
Şu kelebeklerin kanatlarına hayran olmamak olası değil. O ne doku ve detaydır. Bir yandan yaprağa benziyor. Arka planıyla renk armonisiyle yine hoş bir kare
