[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A simple view of a camel warning sign of which so many dot the countryside in the Gulf states , it is a fact that camels do stray onto the highways rightly these signs are up to forewarn drivers to look out for them in specific areas where they are raised and herded ,they are often left to roam so there is a real danger to hit one and it is huge , so beware ! For this presentation i chose to desaturate the sign to make it stand out , just an idea really , not much post-processing here besides the partial desaturation , a little sharpenening and a thin black frame.
iso 80 as usual , f/3.5 ,1/200 , it was bleak out there on this lonely stretch of road indeed it was such a bad day ,the roads around this part of the country were flooded over by overflowing (inadequate ? ) sewage system , lets say it poured cats and dogs for a long while , we even reconsidered at some point to trace our way back to the hotel as every few kms we had to slow down to a halt particularly in the dipped part of long stretches as the rainwater had accumulated on it and it caused a real hazard to drivers , we did keep going and it finally turned out better later on when the downpour finally ended but the water level had not receeded for days thereafter !

Hi Carol,
A nice POV to capture this perspective of the road from the side of the car.
I like the desaturated part of the picture while mainaining the sign with the camel on in color.
Nice creative composition with beautiful grey scales and the foggy atmosphere giving a magical ambient!

Je confonds toujours chameau et dromadaire, voilà qui m'aide à mémoriser le chameau... mais dans 10 minutes j'aurais encore oublié...HAHA !

Excellente desaturation partielle.
Une atmosphère où la vitesse et la poussière sont bien présentes.
J'aime le contraste entre la voiture arrêtée et celle qui est au loin en pleine vitesse.
La notion de danger est bien représentée ici.
POV parfait.

A very well chosen point to shoot this beautiful shot,the details and the DOF is wonderful,the blowing sand and on the road seems beautiful,nice perspective with good balanced framing,the B&W suits the desert mood situation,well captured and a nice presentation showing the camel sign.

Hello, Carol -
Very good eye to spot this one - the camel crossing sign is such an interesting and unusual sight, and your preserving of the red triangle around it is quite eye-catching. Your chose POV is wonderful, allowing us to look along the road's edge as it curves into the distance. The b&w compliments the rainy gloom of the setting. Well done.

Before I read your note, I assumed that was dust behind the passing speeding car .. but now I know it's indeed a wet rainy day, and that isn't dust at all!!
So great on you for getting out in that weather, getting that great low perspective beside your car to get the camel crossing sign. Very good idea to desaturate all but the camel sign ... it really adds to the gloom and greyness and mood of the shot.
You're a brave man to drive in all these foreign countries .. I guess you just have to bite the bullet, and do it, right?
