Another attraction from Sidon in southern Lebanon , its Sea Castle sits 80 m offshore on a small island connected by a fortified Arab stone causeway , an island that was formerly the site of a temple to Melkart the Phoenician version of Hercules. One of several coastal castles built by the Crusaders this one was erected in 1228 , was later destroyed by the Mamluks to prevent the very same Crusaders from returning to the region . Renovated in the 17th century it consists of two towers joined by a wall , the left one is in better state of maintenance , a winding staircase inside leads up to the roof where one has great views back over the site ,across the old city and fishing harbour .
In WS one such view of the site and over to the modern city to the north .
Shot this as the sun was setting , i like the tints in the clouds , pretty much as seen , cropped to a panoramic format , a little boost in saturation ,sharpening after resizing , frame in Photoscape .
Lebanon has gorgeous sunsets , we were rewarded with one most evenings of our stay here.
Thanks for looking ,
Carol

The sharpness and POV are excellent.
The colorful cloud formation adds great beauty to the overall scenario.
Well caught!

Hi Carol, love the warm colors of the evening light - always the nicest... evening or early morning! Yes, a gorgeous sunset indeed. Great colors tinging the clouds and the water. What a spectacular view.
Will have to wait for photos of your latest trip I guess :)

Hi Carol,
What a lovely place :) beautiful lighting, great capture.
TFS, best regards,

Hi carol,
A lovely photo with wonderful warm colors and very beautiful fluffy clouds. The composition with the bridge leading the eye is very good. Unfortunately it looks like the photo is tilted to the right. Look at the verticals to check the horizon.

Niek

Hi Carol,
What an atmosphere in this landscape shot adorned with such warm light of sunset.
A nice cast on this Sea Castle with perfect sharpness and details.
This picture depicts quiteness and peace.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Hello Carol, the castle has an interesting outline which looks good against the soft colours of the evening sky. There is still enough light for us to see the stones and other deatils of the castle.
A good note and information about your PP.I prefer this shot to the one in the workshop, although that one is interesting too.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Carol,

first of all a nice photo from a very beautiful country, but also battered by wars. Then the excellent sharpness in this picture is really amazing. The strong point of the photo is that, in my opinion.Even though from a considerable distance it's possible to set apart every single stone. The composition, with an excellent depth and a beautiful mackerel sky, has pleasant soft colours.Nice photo and with a great charm.

Hi Carol,
Lovely fluffy clouds and excellent sharpness. I don't think the photo is tilted to the right as someone has says, its probably some lens distortion - a very pleasant scene
cheers
