Just a simple photo of a fisherman in ankle deep water trying his luck at catching fish off the rocky seashore of Ras Beirut a few meters down from the Corniche a beautiful promenade by the wateredge a few hundreds meters west of the American University of Beirut .
I had been watching him and a few others for a good 20 minutes or so ...a lost cause in the end... although he seems well equipped here holding onto an ultra long fishrod that fetches so far out , i thought, yet he could not pull anything out of there ,well... perhaps he did after i left the area... hopefully but i was more impressed by the way he grabbed it with one hand and put the other arm behind his back to balance his posture .
Iso 80 , 1/250 , f/8 in manual mode , not much PP black and white conversion ,contrast , sharpening and that's it ,
Thanks for reviewing this photo,
Carol

Hi Carol,
A very minimal composition with this lonely fisherman as if standing on water!
A very sharp image and a nice diagonal line created by his fishing rod!
Nice ripples in the corner where there's the fisherman surrounding his feet are creating impact to the presentation.
Well seen and neatly presented.
My regards,

Francis Xavier

Boa noite Carol
you make it notice in your note: the "delicatesse" of the fisherman posture isa portrait of how we can do so beautiful as a flour...we are, or not. ...and this fisherman is superb to observe. Very well placed in the composition and a good b/W with good tonalities and not forced, living the same naturality as the fisherman.

Hi Carol.
A beauitful perspective and lovely view while this fisherman is busy catching his hunt, good 1/3 framing where you placed your subject in good third and his fish-rod is covered very well.
Best Wishes

It is a kind of minimalism, simple but beautiful composition

A strongly placed fisherman within a simple frame, works superb here, Carol!

The motion in waters add mood into the shot.
Well captured work!

Greetings,
Paras

This is such a beautiful simplicity in the frame , Carol.
The lone fisherman with the long rod fits the frame beautifully in pleasing snug. The mood in b+w is fabulous with exceptional gray tone. Top drawer work and thanks for sharing.
Kind regards - Jusni
