When we came around a bend a few kms out on the road to B'charré this new church came into view sitting by itself on an elongated green-grassed ridge , the unfolding panorama of mountains as a nice backdrop for this building makes the place alluring and picturesque , i could not resist turning this panorama into a shot. The church entrance is reached by a single lane 500 mtrs down the main road from this viewpoint .
There is a nearly 50 km deep-sided valley that runs almost to the coast right by the hidden side of the building called the Quadisha Valley with ancient monasteries built into the cliffs, a formidable treasure of architectural delights awaiting visitors , it is easy enough to explore on foot, the nicest part of that valley being the upper 20kms which comes to an end near B'charré 3 kms farther up .
Used a long focal to make the mountains appear nearer to the church , cropped a bit of the bottom , added a little contrast , sharpened and framed ,
Thank you for lookimg,
Carol

Preciosa imagen de esa iglesia con esas montañas al fondo...saludos

Hello Carol ,
certainly here you used a long focal length which makes the church stand out in the frame while the mountain in BG gives a beautiful look of back drop, the framing is well balanced with 1/3 composition while the placement of the church is good off centered, beautiful DOF with good sharpness and details, good contrast colors of church with BG,well captured and a beautiful picturesque presentation of this church.

Hi Carol,

I must admit, when I first viewed this I thought that I would have added more contrast (no surprise from me... since I add it all the time). The more I looked at it though, I think the softness of the sky and mountains really gives it a peaceful look (in my opinion). I like how the spires of the church stand out and really draw our attention to the church. The line of trees add a nice path for the eyes to follow to the church.

Lebanon is so intriguing to me. I even have several Lebanese cookbooks which are perfect for summer meals! ;) Lisa

Salut Carol,

Bravo Carol!Catherine

Hello, Carol -
Fantastic image combining unique, colorful architecture with a striking and rugged landscape. The roofs are very eye-catching and the details of the building are very sharp. The distance of the mountains behind are illustrated by the slight haze. Timeless feel, effective composition, very good technical and aesthetic result. Well done.

Great one Carol ... first of all, your notes are always so descriptive, and tell us so much about what you were seeing and where you were. That's fantastic!
Love the muted colors ... those brick colored rooftops really stand out against the grey hillside behind. And I love the trees dotting the horizon line on the left .. leading us to the church .. like a dotted line .."follow the dotted line" :) The little strip of hazy blue sky is great too. I can almost feel as though I'm there.
Great shot my friend.
Hope you have a good weekend ... any big plans?
Trudy

Boa noite Carol

Salut Carol! J'aime bien cette église adossée aux rochers dénudés de la montagne. C'est bien composé et nous montre un Liban différent de celui do mon imagination. Une photo très réussie, bravo!

Nice composition Carol - the church stands out sharply against the ridge in the distance. Colour looks good and the pano crop works very well for this scene..

Cheers

Got to get back to Lebanon - a beautiful country!

Beautiful composition. Clear sharp details and great colors. You did a wonderful job, tfs.

Yes, it is a 'cute' image... no doubt.

I like the sunlighted and sharp construction before the mountain, the feeling of wide space and scale provided.
I like the composition, placing the church in the 'golden spot' and the 3 horizontal plans (foreground ground, mountain and sky).
I think the white and black frame is not necessary here.

Great shot, full of taste and beauty.
