Pricky pears are the fruit of the prickly pear cactus. This cactus has large flat pads, thorny fruits, and flowers that blossom annually. Sabra cacti can be seen scattered throughout the Israeli hills, where they were often planted to serve as natural dividers and barriers. While the cacti looks like a natural part of the Israeli landscape, they were actually imported to Israel from New Mexico and Arizona in the 19th century, according to Daniel Rogov. While prickly pears are called sabras in Israel, elsewhere they are called Indian figs, barberry figs, and tuna. The fruit, which is rich in vitamin C, is very popular in Mexico, Central and South America, Mediterranean countries and parts of Africa.

Hi Tsilla,
Perfect details in this macro shot! Lovely golden color of this prickly pear cactus flower which even in Malta is so common!
A very fine tight crop to let us admire the flower surrounded with so many thorns!
A very neat shot adorned with splendid lighting.
My regards,

Francis Xavier

Hi Tsilla,
Really nice details in this photo of cactus bloom and bee. good natural colors and quite pleasing ! TFS Julie

Hello Tsilla, a good composition with plenty of detail to appreciate.
The cacti, the flower and the bee are all in sharp focus, and I like the threads of a spiders web criss crossing the darker bokeh to the right.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Ciao Tsilla, lovely cusy bee on fantastic flower, wonderful natural colors, fine details of web too, splendid light and excellent sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

A well taken floral capture with amazing light and contrasts, Tsilla!

Good sharpness and well chosen POV with nice management of light and exposure.
The colors are natural and a square format enhances the overall appeal of the picture as well.
Thanks for sharing.

Great macro Tsilla from this beautiful cactus flower.
Very well done, MF.

This picture has a very nice atmosphere, which I like. The bee definitely creates some point of interest as well. Good detail and nice color.

Some description on the picture itself might be useful!

one more shot for you botany catalogue. and kosher too!! oh, what luck.
But catalogues are just what they are, catalogues.
Many thanks for you reporting me, but for your kind that's about a natural reaction, not very imaginative. It reminds me of little girls running to the teacher and complaining. I pity the teacher.
You can report this too. Janos
