A view of Scotney Old Castle, a 14th century moated castle.
Scotney New Castle [built between 1835 &1843], is where the visit begins, and walking down the hill from there, you see the central feature of the gardens, which is the ruins of a medieval moated manor house,Scotney Old Castle. It is on an island on a small lake.

Unfortunately our visit happened just before the azaleas and rhododendrons came into flower.

Thanks for looking.

I love the composition, but I wonder what is cut off on the left side of the photo?

So idilic in a castle with a location such as this. The water against the walls, the gnarlling old trees and a touch of rustic magic.

Hi Jean, I bet it looks really pretty when all the surrounding trees are in leaf or flower.. I like the gnarly old tree growing out of the back.Be good for a climb and jump into the water on a hot day.. Fiona

Hi, Jean. This is a great POV for Scotney Old castle. I can see some spring flowers on the left but I like the Calligraphic branches of the old tree on the right. Good clarity, perspective and textures in this photo. Cheers.

Boa noite Jean,
Calm, peace and beauty.
A pleasure for my eyes this work of art.
