[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Photograph of Hadrian's Wall or more locally known the Roman Wall. This picture is from Steel Rig towards Crag Lough with one of the few original parts of the wall.

The wall was 117 kilometers (73 miles) long across the narrow neck of England, from the North Sea to the Irish Sea and was was eight to ten feet wide and fifteen feet high.

The Romans began building the wall in 122 A.D.because they were afraid that the people of the north might attack them. The wall was built between Roman Britain and Scotland and it took about 14 years to complete. It is the largest structure ever made by the Romans.

Tec - 3 shots at 0, +2/3 and -2/3 merged in photomatics, adjusted contrast and ran through a noise filter. framed and text added through layers in CS5 resized for TL.

Hope you like my Postcard from Northumberland ;)

Hi Brian.

Perfect postcard style for this rustic scene of Hadrians Wall. The active sky grabs the eye, the wisp of water adds appeal. tfs

Hi Brian, I like your choice of pov with the wall leading up the hill, straight towards those impressive clouds.Fiona

I studied English and World histories but never heard of the Roman wall, thanks for the info learn something new everyday. I like your pov and it has a good dof with nice details. I wish we have those clouds right now, we could use the rain. Very well done, tfs.

Quite a feast for the time... 1900 years ago .. nowadays this must be quite a sight just standing there and going into thinking of the time of its construction ...
Here i like the low grey clouds hanging just above the hill the wall runs upward onto cutting through the grassy landscape as if it did not belong there , lovely greens and the view extending to the lake and beyond adds atmosphere to the scenery . A good one Brian , thanks for sharing and participating ,
Greetings ,
Carol
