Dunstanburgh Castle must be one of the most atmospheric and picturesque places on the North East Coast, steeped in the history of the border wars and mystery the ruins of this castle make an imposing sight from wherever viewed.

Taken facing the east toward the sunrise with a low level PoV and using a 400 ND filter a 30 second shutter the incoming tide is turned to mist.

PP Work - increased foreground light to bring out the stones and saturated the sky with one layer to decrease the oe in the sunrise, added frame with thin white pinstripe and resized for TL.

Hope you like it

Hi Brian,
A dramatic ambient in this vertically framed landscape shot. I like the movement of the water hitting the big pebbles on the beach. A considerable depth in to the perspective. The castle is surrounded by the red cast of sunset.
A very interesting presentation adorned with beautiful PP work.

Hi Bri,excellent result for your choice of a long exposure using a ND grad filter,I like the misty look to the water as it merges with the rocks.Good silhouette of the castle & placed well in your composition.Well taken.

Beautiful photo with great work with long time exposure. Very nice and eye-catching colours and good sharpness. Very well framed also.

Hi Brian, how could you not like it.. You got the sky at a good level without over doing it and the misty rocks work really well with the silhouetted castle. Fiona

This is so beautiful...great perspective..great light
dramatic ambiance.
5 stars in my book

Hoi Bri,
The colors are beautiful, and the vapor above the stones do give it a mystique mood. Really great capture of the mood.
The black frame is okay, but I'm not sure about the white line. ;-)
Good PP work in the stones and light control.

Hello Brian.

A vision of beauty........totally a stunning image.

Stv :))) High Tariff shot.

Love the mood in this marvelous work, Brian!

Superb long time exposure brought promising results in this scene.
The water adds drama into the work whereas presence of castle gives the work a fantasy-look.
Well caught light and charm!

Kind regards,

Bom dia Brian,

What an excellent job we have here!
DOF and POV are very good. Light, colors and contrast just excellent.
Well done and nicely framed.

Bom dia Brian,
Oh! This mist rising from water and rocks is one of the nicest things I've seen in photography.
Nice image, very well done.

A very fantastic and mysterious atmosphere here.
The vertical presentation is a very good choice, it gives more impact to the foreground.
Beautiful lighting and contrast management.
There's also a perfect balance.
Wow !
