Good Morning Everyone,

I do like shots which have mood and this early morning venture gave me that opportunity.

The winter sun was very low and whilst it was producing long, elegant shadows, it was also gently evaporating the mist, over the frozen lake.

The scene resembled something from a science fiction movie, where all the people have disappeared and there is a lingering cloud over the land.

For the lack of colour, this almost makes a b&w shot!

Thank you for dropping by.
I hope you like the mood, too, Bev :-)

Shot is RAW.
Converted with PSE6.
pp - very little, just a little burning and dodging, sharpened, added borders and signed

Hi Bev!
I agree with your note...this lovely scene seems surreal and has special mood. It also seems made in B/W. I especially like the soft light and the long shadows! Very good sharpness.
Well composed and presented.
Congratulations Bev.
Have a nice week.
ciao! Vanda

Hi Bev,
A spectacular contre-jour capture of this beautiful scenery. A rather monochromatic presentation! A wonderful moody shot with such softness of the morning mist.
A very sharp image. The pole in the FG is giving a good sense of depth although a bit destructing.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hi Bev,
This is great. I like the steel like light and the limitation in colors. The position of the pole, the boats and the island within the composition are all perfect and create a good feel of depth.

It looks like you were able to keep the sun out of the lens on this one.

Hi Bev,

This shot is certainly full of mood, I love the emptiness of it. The composition is good with lovely light and sharp detail and I like the small tree on the right of the image. Is it a small island in the centre of the lake or the land at the other side?

Very nice photo Bev! Good work shooting against the sun, yet still retaining good detail and contrast. Nice compo, deep DOF.

Great view! Well taken.

Hi Bev,

Yes, this has a great mood. The shadows are wonderful and that mist really does the trick. Shooting into the light has resulted in nice sparkles on the frozen lake. Well seen and captured.

Warm regards,

Bravo et amitié

Nice plays of light and shadow in the shot, the yachts are perfectly sharp - very appealling image but not sure about the extra line in the frame.

Hallo Beverley,

einfach nur schön .. Licht(Schatten) ,Schärfe ,POV, Farben..............Perfekt.

Gruß Detlef

This is so beautiful Bev. You say there is a lack of color but I disagree. The lighting creates so many beautiful soft shades that form this special mood. Sharp detail, great composition and dof...just wonderful. Love it. TFS, Lori

Hello Beverly.
What a scene captured at one of the best timing with very strong 1/3 framing, the lower POV works well and the DOF is very good.
My Best Wishes

Bonjour Beverley
beau paysage figé dans la glace avec un ciel bleu magnifique. finalement, en regardant bien ce n'est pas si monochrome que cela :)
Merci pour cette prise de vue spectaculaire

dear Beverley,
a beautiful wide view shot of winter iced scenery,
this morning fog makes the view more fantastic and illusionary,
and back light situation shows us wonderful contrast between lighted ice and vivid shadows on its surface,
chilly but delightful ambience is fine,
thank you for your excellent shot,

Bom dia Bev
The light is euperb and you managed it so well...it has superb tonalities.
Um abraço

Hi Bev...the tones and mood are nice in this shot. excellent focus and nicely composed.

A superb picture Beverley!

Yes I do like the mood and the way you have recorded the light, the ice, and the morning mist here.

Your well judged 1/800 @ f/8.0 has given you optimum exposure and picture contrast.

I well appreciate what you say about the conditions changing as you watch, always a spur to good photography I think, and one of the lovely experiences of mornings like this.
