Wandering along the beach at Burton Bradstock on the way to the striking rock ledges that become uncovered at low tide, I couldn't help noticing how the wind was tugging the clouds making them almost mimic the waves on the beach.

Canon 40D
Sigma 10 - 20
Aperture Priority Mode to control DOF and shutter speed to get the wave movement.

Tripod and Remote Release for sharp images at low shutter speeds

RAW ISO 100 for best quality and because I needed a slow shutter speed.

F25 ... It was quite bright and I wanted to slow things down as much as possible to get the wave movement.

B&W Circ Polariser used to saturate colours and it knocks off about 2 stops of light slowing shutter speed down further.

0.8th second shutter speed ... which was about right without putting any more filters on, and slow enough to keep wave movement.

That is a marvelous photo, in every aspect. Technically, you've got the best possible balance between contrast, saturation and tonality. Sharpness good, not excessive, and as for the composition, let's say that Nature offered her gifts, and you made sure to do the job in style!

Excellent, great job :)

Beautiful Miles - a really top example of slow shutter use.. The image is well thought out and composed and the exposure is bang on..

nice POV, clouds and slow shutter
TFS

Superb POV to get the wave to mirror the wisps of cloud like this, all balanced out by that wonderfully coloured cliff. And to top off a great picture a REALLY informative note. Great stuff!
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hi Miles
I love the colours of the sand and the rocks here, they are lovely and sharp.
I absolutely love the effect of the waves and clouds.
Karen

Hello Miles, Everything is perfect thanks to your careful planning. A Top Notch picture!! Congratulations!!
Regards, Pat.

Absolutely superb shot, Miles! I'm inclined to have wanted a bit more fg here to avoid the centered horizon, however, the colors are just gushing! Excellent dof. TFS

This is a wonderful image you've captured with such brillian detail and vivid colours. The use of a longer exposure works incredibly well here and doesn't feel overdone. I have just recently purchased a Sigma 10-20 wide angle lens last month. So not only is this photo stunning using the lens, it is inspiring for me to get out and use my new lens. Thank you for that and for posting this great photo. Cheers.

Hi Miles...
When you had comment one of my pics...it was a fabulous idea...it give me the opportunity to discover you and your wonderful porte-folio.....
These one is...incredible....
It's look like a competition between clouds and waves.....
The composition is "perfect".....
Real candy for the eye.....
Great
Claude

Whoaa, nice colors. Water seems to be pasted like a foreground layer. Shape of the clouds match perfectly the wave

Miles
A very very excellent gallery, keep it up. I love the orange hues in this one and I see how the cloud nearly seem to mirror rushing water. Excellent technical note, very useful indeed.

Jim
