Traditional Scottish Song

In memory of the late comedian Duncan Macrae, who did the best ever rendition ( while totally sozzled) on the last good Hogmanay show on TV. Enjoy....

A wee cock sparra sat on a tree,
A wee cock sparra sat on a tree,
A wee cock sparra sat on a tree
Chirpin awa as blithe as could be.
Alang came a boy wi'a bow and an arra,

Alang came a boy wi'a bow and an arra,
Alang came a boy wi'a bow and an arra
And he said: 'I'll get ye, ye wee cock sparra.'
The boy wi' the arra let fly at the sparra,

The boy wi' the arra let fly at the sparra,
The boy wi' the arra let fly at the sparra,
And he hit a man that was hurlin' a barra.
The man wi' the barra cam owre wi' the arra,

The man wi' the barra cam owre wi' the arra,
The man wi' the barra cam owre wi' the arra,
And said: 'Ye take me for a wee cock sparra?'
The man hit the boy, tho he wasne his farra,

The man hit the boy, tho he wasne his farra,
The man hit the boy, tho he wasne his farra
And the boy stood and glowered; he was hurt tae the marra.
And a' this time the wee cock sparra,

And a' this time the wee cock sparra,
And a' this time the wee cock sparra
Was chirpin awa on the shank o' the barra.

Meaning of unusual words:
arra=arrow
sparra=sparrow
barra=barrow
farra=father
marra=marrow
shank=leg

wow! what a great shot of a beautiful bird.

Hi Linzi,
Nice image with good details and colour, I find the bacground a little distracting even though you had a good DOF
Regards Andy

Great shot Linzi, she looks a bit sad.

Nice and sharp, lots of detail.

Thanks
Gil

Hi Linzi
(or should I call you a "puppet on a string???)

This is a lovely shot of this sparrow. I love all the colours in his wings.
I wouldn't worry about the b/g because the eye seems to be immediately drawn to the sparrow anyway.
Say hi to your "secret agent" lol.

Hello Linzi1

Sweet capture . I love the paparazzi style here (^_^). Great luminosity. Personnally, the overexposed BG , is not too distracting. I find it is instead enhancing the 3D effect.

Well done.
Robert

Hello Linzi, the sharpness of this shot is excellent; all the details are so clear.
The colours are lovely.We ought to appreciate these pretty little birds more than we do!

Perfect work. Very nice bird.
Good DOF. Well done. Thanks for sharring.

Kerem

Sharp details in the sparra and a great expression on its face. The overexposed background is a little distracting and could be removed with some clone work.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

hi linzi,

OK Linzi, this is a stellar shot!

Perfectly framed, though I usually prefer off-center framing I Think this time this worked well. The bird is looking at you and its clear, crisp, well lit and nice color.

Excellently done!

the details are perfect well done again
