Arlington Row, Bibury, Gloucestershire

A group of weavers cottages close to the River Coln. Built in 1380, the row was originally a timber framed hall used to store the Bishop of Worcester's wool.

The hall was converted into a row of cottages in the 17th century.

Bibury was described by William Morris as "the most beautiful village in England" and to many, these cottages exemplify "Rural English Architecture". I'm not so sure myself, perhaps it's just that they are among the most photographed.

I tried altering the gamma a little on this one, and, as is the custom, I applied minimal sharpening after reducing size. On reflection, I'm not so sure that either of these was the right thing to do!?

great shot of the traditional countryside houses. really nice to look at and the angle that this is shot is perfect. the two people add something to this photo. the houses are brilliant and a good photo..phil

Hi Bill,
Apart from a little exposure problem on the woman's top I think everything is just right and the high perspective gives us an excellent view of ancient tilework. In fact you can almost see Silas Marner walking in the footsteps of the couple in the warm and homely image.
Best wishes,

Oh YES Bill!
All is here again of lovely old England!
Scenes from Chief Wexford (tv series)Shekespear and the Cotswolds..Well done Bill !

Hello Bill,
Picturesque place if any..!
The old houses and surroundings are very attractive, I'd like to live in a place like this...
Good point of view, fine details are captured and the composition is well balanced!

Hi Bill,
Very good POV showing a good perspective! The walkers are well positioned in the image. I like the play of light and shadows, the textures on the roofs and the natural colors. It could be pleasant to stroll in Arlington Row. Bravo! Annie

Bill one day I hope to see this. When ever I have a little more time I also might visit the UK! A beauty shot! TFS:-)

Hello Bill,

Wonderfull perspective here! looks at reading his/her text, for me it is perfect, the look the colors and sharp, in fact in some works sharp excess don't give right, and I know that it dosed certain it formulates her here.
That is a beautiful postcard here for us, beautiful the place and landscape.
Congratulations for his work
