A view of Gibson Mill.
I have brought pictures from this venue in the past, and this is just another angle of this interesting mill.

Gibson mill is a 19th century cotton mill that sits at the heart of Hardcastle Crags. It was built around 1800, and was one of the first generation mills of the Industrial Revolution. The mill was driven by a water wheel inside and produced cotton cloth up until about 1890.

The mill has been brought back into use as a facility for visitors and the local community.
"The ground breaking project has renovated the mill as a model of sustainable development, being run with minimum impact on its environment."
Note the solar panels on the roof!
The buildings are made from local stone, known locally as millstone grit;a very hard wearing stone that many of the buildings in this part of Yorkshire are made from.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful texture of this old bridge, Jean, nicely lit with such diffused lighting being a dull day.
Nice building with perfect details in the bricks surrounded by Autumn foliage.
A nicely composed landscape shot with nice details all over.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hello Jean,

nice tight crop around this quaint mill and bridge. Effective composition with the bridge leading out of the photo. Great lighting on this overcast day that shows up the details and textures well.

Good morning Jean,

I love the forms and windows of this bâtisse (Moulin).
New course with solar panels.
Despite the low sky of beautiful vegetable colors give extra charm. Good contrast with the rocks below and the buttress of the bridge.
Thank you for sharing. Pleasant evening.

Regards.
Yolande

Hi Jean,
Love thoses old buildings, brings you back in time, where other peoples, now long gone, lived in that environment...not visit it..)))

I do find the composition static. By center the stone bridge, and the way the building are situated, all the attention is concentrated on right and bottom part of the image.

You've also clipped your highlightss, foliage at the top of the image are washed out, and lack visual impact.

The contrast situation here is impossible to be handled by exposure alone. Better to have exposed for highlights, then open your shadow area...(the use of the level tool, is very handy in those situations.

Color wise, by overexposing accentuated the blue (cause by UV) cast. then again bringing more dullness to the color and contrast...the last being affected by the density of the color tones. I suggested an other vision in the workshop.

Hello Jean-

Again you captured the essence of a place. I have not been to this place but the storytelling you have thru the lens is very effective for everyone to enjoy even virtually. The sharpness of the details, the color quality, and the light managemnt is perfect considering that the sun wasn't out when you took the image. Thanks for sharing and cheers!

Hello, Jean,
this is a lovely shot just the way you posted it. I like that soft light, those natural looking colors, like the moss on the roofs and the ferns... Very nice sharpness and detail. I might have darkened highlights just a tad, but that seems like what you'd see as you walked that way. Many thanks and warmest wishes,
Shelly

Hi Jean

I like this profiled view of the bridge. Excellent sharpness & a soft diffused light. The moss on the sides & walls indicates a lot of rain & fog. Tfs!

Nice pov, great natural colours and good composition. Nice job
regards
David

Hello Jean,
I like the British very old stone buildings, cobbled streets, stone bridges. They create a charming atmosphere . In contrast the modern unified architecture around the world.
