Dear friends,
I sincerely thank you all for the feedback and very encouraging words left on my earlier post(s).

Here I present one of the series of exposures I made in and around the Piccadilly area the other day. My last post, "Symphony of Lights" was done about a quarter of an hour after this shot here.

I've been here shooting at night before, specifically from this same POV sometime late last year. Few shots from that collection can be seen on my personal photography site www.job32v8.com (under the "London at Night" section), while another may be seen on TE. Those were taken later in the day after dark.
This time however, I wanted to capture the scene during the blue hour - so I arrived here a bit earlier.

Something interesting to note about this particualr area is that at night, the facade of these rather grand buildings is continually bathed by several constantly changing different hues of light, altering their look intermitently and consequently the general mood, ambience and local light.
This is due to the very powerful neons very close by - right behind me in this instance and also partly seen in an earlier post - here.

This underscores one of the exciting challenges/benefits of shooting in lowlight, or during cross-over lighting conditions - in that the scene can suddenly take on a completely different character or personality - since you will usually have set the exposure for the initial lighting conditions.. which then suddely change without warning - especially more glaringly so, during a long exposure !

Anyway, again, thanks for looking.
:-)

Very good night composition and perspective. Clear, and sharp !

Hello Daniel. This is an awesome evening shot. The perfect exposure and colour saturation and sharpness combine very well to create this masterpiece. Beauitfully composed with effective balance of light and elements. The curve of the buildings on the left create a nice line to follow from front to back. Thanks Daniel.

Hi Daniel, you must do all your sleeping by day mate!lol

Another stunning night city shot, great colours, composition and busyness, you really capture these evening/night scenes well.

As you know i'm a bit of a fan of year work, not just for the subject matter but the technical aspect as well, i've been meaning to ask you, do you work alone? I've been out and tried this style of photography before in Newcastle, but I did'nt like it one bit, gangs of youths looking you up and down funny and just a general feeling of being about to get the crap kicked outta me for my gear and maybe just for kicks, so how do you get round all this, their must be times your nervous?

Hi Daniel

I like the warm vs cold color opposition between tthe red & blue, accentuated by the red bus. Good colour, lighting & sharpness. Tfs!

great photo with greath colors and POV...

Hi Daniel. You really have an eye for seeing and skills for presenting. I have walked along here during the nineties and recall it was pretty bleak on a rainy day and no roofs over the footpath. Your composition brings it to life well, TFS. Murray.
PS appreciate your critiques.

wow what a wonderful nyt shot, i like the lights in this picture well presented and very clear shot. very admirable....

Hi Dear Daniel, I prefer this one to the ws because of the colour cast, which struk me, the nice redish colour against the nice blue sky.

also I prefer the pov. The position of the camera to the curve of the road and the bus coming in.

Nice streak of lights and twinkle made by the headlights of the bus.

Great sharpness.

Very well done as usual :)

Take care, Yan :)

Hey Daniel,

This is PERFECT. Though one thing (that could possibly) make the image better would have been, no motion blur over on the left. I like this framing, seems very modern... something you'd find in a well lit gallery. The colours are just exuberant... pleasant, very- well pretty. :)

I think the settings you chose here really got the job done, I'll even go so far as to say, perfect decision. What was your iso and wb set to? -if I may ask. ;P

Thank you- really, this is very/very/very! well done.

Biance.

(I mean! Look at the double-decker, there isn't even a glare on the windows!!)

Again a very nice night shot! I like how the bus is in perfect focus, not moving, while the rest of the city is still moving. A great one!

By the way, I checked your paintings web site, very nice!

This semi-nocturnal shot is just superb Daniel, it looks better than the real thing ;) I'm curious to know how you obtained star-effects on the light sources, I used to use a special filter when I was shooting with film some years back. thanks

Hello Daniel !

Without being too flattering , I must say , I could put your entire gallery in my favorites. You never cease to surprise me with the quality of your posts ! This one is no exception.

The details of the street and evening light are superbly captured once again. Smart choice again to choose this POV capturing the curved street , and light movements.

And yes , it is joining my favorite night shots (^_^).

Keep on the great work !
Robert
