Afternoon Stroll (for Bridge theme)

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I am a couple of weeks behind with the themes due to being confined to bed with a broken leg after an operation. So photography is also out for the moment. But determined to keep the brain active I have decided to try and upload something for the themes I have missed, even if it means trawling through the archives.
This is a shot taken last summer on a day out to Foxton Locks in Leicestershire. There were many photo opportunities but I liked this shot of the couple walking over the bridge with the glimpse of the two boats under it. The only thing I am not happy with is the lack of colour in the sky and therefore I have gone for a wide crop. Due to the crop and the general difficulty in uploading an image this size, my usual sharpening technique may have produced a little too much noise in the tree area. Maybe if so, someone could give me some tips in sharpening a wide crop image. |

Hello Joy, sorry to hear that you are 'out of action' due to your leg being broken, ouch!
I think that you made the right choice by cropping out as much of the sky as you safely could. Unfortunately in the U.K. we seem to get lots of these white/grey skies!
However, I do like your composition with the bridge and its reflection slightly off centre. The 'O' of the bridge makes a good frame for the two barges.
I like the presence of the two people too.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Jean.

Hi Joy.
I think this is a very impressive rustic scene, you chose so well the angle to incorporate the arch of the bridge, the semetry reflections and the extended view beyond the bridge, neat image. tfs
