Earlier today i was driving home from the other side of the island with a friend of mine, and i pulled over to look at the amazing light as the sun broke through the clouds.
Then i realised that just the other side of the gate in front of me there was a really nice display of bluebells, so i decided to come back for sunset.

The sunset was strange because it turned quite hazy and this created a golden cast over everything :-)

I used an ND8 Graduated filter

Well composed photo Jamie, warm colours created an excellent feeling, title in the frame could have been a bit more subtle though..

Amazing use of GND filter. Great effect and just right exposure.

Hi Jamie,
a spectacular shot. Everything works perfectly here. The foreground wild flowers with the gate and the amazing sky looks like a painting. Good use of the grad filter.

I guess this is what is meant by "Painting with Light", Jamie.
Very vibrant warm tones & I like how you have captured the light hitting the foreground flowers. The gate, style & sign post makes for an interesting & very strong composition.I'm a little surprised though, that at a F18 aperture the whole scene is not tack sharp, just an amatuers observation,as I sure as heck, would like to shoot one as good as this.

That is just amazing! One of the most beautiful shots I have seen in a long time here on TL! Excellent pp work, you got the flowers to pop up very nice here! The scene is outstanding! You deserve an award for this! This is over the top!

Hi Jamie
What a wonderful landscape you've captured here perfectly
Great golden color of sunset in addition to nice flowers in FG and the path ending the gate all are works great here
The black frame adds depth to this shot
Best wishes,

I am glad you went back at sunset. Looks like a dream taken out of a fairy story. Amazing tones and colors. TFS

hi jamie
great landscape shot, excellent use of your filter, good pov nice use with the gate and signpost amazing colours.

Wow amazing shot! Great lighting and tones!
Beautiful. Well done.

Bonjour Jamie
Excellente composition avec cette belle lumière du soir qui vient caresser les fleurs du FG.Tout est nuance, douceur.Merci pour ce partage.Bravo Jamie!Catherine

Hi Jamie,
Looks like you had some after effect from the ash in the sky. It certainly gave the entire image a wonderful warm glow. I love the entire composition with the wild flowers filling the FG and with the gate and sign acting as a wonderful leadline toward the sun. I am however a little surprised about the softness of the image. I think adding a bit more sharpness wouldn't hurt.

HI Jamie,
Fantastic shot, the colours are vibrant and the whole scene has a warm glow, I think the only distracting thing in this shot for me is the flower heads in the foreground are blurred, other than that a brilliant shot with exquisite light and great pp work - that grad filter has really done its job. Best wishes

Hello Jamie,

It's good to see you posting on this site which will give you ample opportunity to use your skills.
I think the mood that you have created is the most outstanding aspect of your photograph. The light on this almost fairytale setting is warm and enriching.
Although you have followed the rule of thirds, you have managed to include a delightful, diagonal composition.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of this.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Jamie,

Lovely image, as usual in landscape it is all about the light and that lovely warm light has painted it's magic all over your scene.
