Magnolia 'Stellata'

This is the smallest magnolia and one of the most popular, growing very slowly into a rounded bush, 3m (10ft) high when mature but still only 1.2-1.5m (4-5ft) after ten years. It is fairly hardy, though frost can damage the grey furry buds and open flowers if they are exposed to morning sunshine.

Star magnolia a native of Japan and was introduced to the United States in the 1860s and it remains a popular landscape item from coast to coast.

Bom dia Steve,

Bela flor branca e excelente ponto de vista que nos permite admirar seu interior. A luz, excelente, contribui positivamente para a beleza do trabalho, bem como ofundo escuro e a moldura, discreta e de muito bom gosto.

Parabéns e um grande abraço,
Sergio

Hi Steve

Good graphism here with the lighter toned flower against the dark bg. Good sharpness & a fine exposure on the highlights. The star shape of the flower is eye-catching. Tfs!

Hi Steve, another out of the ordinary flower shot. I like the way it is hiding like its buried in the undergrowth with a little sunlight. you can still see a bit of texture in the petals. Fiona

Hi Steve,

You're capturing well this elegant Magnolia by a good composition and excellent gentle tone, so it's interesting and impressive to see the gently bent petal with shade and yellow center. The black background draws out well this flower's charm, too.

Kind regards,
mikio

I like such kind of photographs which do have a strong appeal of an artwork, Steve :o))
Wonderful focus and perfect contrast against the darker BG.
The colors are natural, and a play between light and shadow is well kept.
Great job!

Paras

Hi Steve,
I really like the lighting you manage to produce on your florlal presentation. You go to the difficult aspect of lighting and produce it perfectly. I like the dark BG of this Magnolia 'Stellata'. Good details in its white petals and the heart is lit gloriously!
Well done,

Francis Xavier

The lighting of those flowers are awesome. I like your framing and the use of negative space. Good details. Very well done, tfs.

Beautiful, mystic shadows...

Hi Steve, this is a variety of magnolia which is so beautiful, and so delicate.[ In my experience it does not seem to keep its flowers for very long.]
You have succeeded in sharing its beauty with us here;the lighting on the petals is excellent.
The composition works very well with a negative space which accentuates the pattern of the petals.
Best wishes Jean.
