Castleton, Derbyshire. A quaint little village in the Derbyshire Peak District. The majorityof houses are small stone built from local limestone. In the area there are many caves/mine-works. The famous Blue-John Stone is mined just a few miles from the village. A beautiful part of the UK and ideal for walkers and ramblers as well as pot-holers.
This image was taken in RAW format near the 'Devil's Arse' cave - yes, that's the name of the place.
The image received a B&W conversion followed by a little dodging & burning and then, using Paintshop Pro X2, I hadd a little play with the preset frames which gave this shot a nice olde-worlde feel.

An excellent image and I love your supurb PP treatment here creating a very artful composition with very complex and intriguing details.
Very Well Done

Hi Dai,
Really like your PP work & the finished result of same, you certainly achieved the "olde-worlde" effect you were after.
I hope you don't mind,I did a WS to see how the image would look ,if given a hand painted look, like they did back in the good old days. Not a critique just a different viewpoint.
Best regards

Hello Dai

Wow.....art to the fullest. I like the pp work here and ofcourse the great B/W conversion. The only thing I see that I have the habit of over doing also is the inner shadow. maybe just a tad much. I try to use it as a enhancement in my work, but can't see past my nose on occasion. Still very well done, the frame, pp work, and the subject used. nice

Hello Dai,I quite like the treatment,if just a bit short of contrast for my taste.
The sky is well treated ,and the vignette works well,I might have cropped a bit off the bottom of the frame to concentrate a bit more on the lovely bridge, but thats just a thought.
Cheers Les.

Hi Dai, I really like what you got in the end with this. It really has an old feel to it but still shows a lot of detail. Fiona

Wow nice shot and great ps work Dai. The tones and detail are fantastic. Amazing job. TFS, Lori

Hi Dai,
Very well presented with interesting dark tonal range and yet good details.
