Hello everyone,
a group of Guernsey cows in the farmyard.
A pedigree herd of Guernseys, not a common sight. They are renowned for their very creamy milk.
We were on a walk around the little village of Zennor on the northern coast of Cornwall, and came across these beautiful beasts.
Have you ever noticed what beautiful eyes and long eye lashes cows have?

I played around in PP to correct the OE of the white on the cows' backs but I wasn't too successful, advice please.
Thanks for looking and hope that you have a great weekend.

PP:rotation-5 degrees, cropped, adjusted levels,exposure-5,fill light-5,applied unsharp mask and resized for posting.

Hi Jean,

Nice one for the theme. A good portrait of cows in panoramic format. I like the sharpness and lights althroughout the image. Well composed.

Hi Jean, very nice shot and good. A very photogenic group my dear....

The light is gorgeous Jean and what a group ! The clarity and sharpness are outstanding even at f/4 it's focused front to back , i do not see too much of that OE on the cows' backs , not a big issue as i find the scene quite well exposed generally but if you still wish to correct the OE white on the cows' backs you ought to retouch by burning locally as i do not think that adjusting levels of the whole composition will correct that particular OE area of the photo without darkening the whole image . I like this just as is, AHHHHH we both use a Sony ,,well just noticed !
Have a nice weekend too ,

Hello Jean,

Wonderful clarity and sharpness combined with good composition.

It is so sad that the animals are not engaging with you at all. A portrait suggests interaction between photographer and subject which just doesn't quite happen.
I feel so sorry to be a little negative about such an otherwise, fine shot.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean,

The almost panoramic presentation works well, and there is a strong sense of movement from left to right, as the cows move towards the milking parlour with the expectation of some food.

A well thought out take on the portrait theme.

There is a good sense of perspective - the gap where the gate is shows us more distant farm buildings and houses under a pale blue cloudy sky.

It's always difficult to deal with OE patches of white - personally small areas don't bother me - in any fully exposed images there are bound to be some pixels right at the 255 end of the histogram.

You ask for advice - I am by no means an expert - all I know I have gleaned from other TE/TL members over the last couple of years - so I will try a WS for you.

Thanks for your appreciation of my previous attempts!

Hi Jean,
Great place, Cornwall if you can see sights like this. I love cows and all other animals.

Hi Jean
Interesting take on the portrait theme
I have to agree with what Bev has said though.

Thanks for joining the theme

Ciao Jean

Ah .. this picture reminds me that I have
to go to the inside of my state breathing
air of a good farm, and with pure smell of weed!
Nice shot and good definition of image.
A beautiful view the beautiful leaves our friends.

hello Jean,
what a lovely light you have captured here and such adorable cows.If you don't mind my saying so, I think I would have cropped along the line of the shed on the left as I find the gap a little distracting. But this is such a bucolic scene that iy doesn't really matter.
