This is a shot of just a small area within Windsor Castle that I shot on our first trip to England. It was a very hot and sunny day. We took the train from Harmondsworth where we were staying. While we were there, the Royal Standard was replaced indicating that the Queen was coming. The crowd got all excited, some of the English saying that they had actually never seen her in person. So, we waited with the crowd as a Volkswagen EuroVan drove in through the entrance. I thought, "What is the Queen of England doing in a Volkswagen?" Then a middle-aged woman got out who was plainly not the queen and waived to us. The crowd dispersed muttering to themselves that she must have come in through another entrance. So much for royalty!

This photo was shot with my Canon Powershot A80. Saturation and sharpness brought up just a little on iPhoto. I used Gimp to add extra saturation selectively to the sky which was washed out due to the summer heat.

Hi Gilbert,

LOL, love your note. A scenic and well composed capture of the castle and gardens. Layering is superb and you did a nice job bringing up the sky a bit.

Have a nice weekend.

Werner

Hi Gilbert,
A well composed image of this castle altough the colours appears a bit over saturated. The garden is looking very colourful and attractive really a place to be with wonderful weather as you had. This image has a lot of potential, but can be improved, also the shadows are a bit dark, without contrast also the vertical is a bit slanted. So improving the image should be done from the Raw picture (did you shot in Raw?). Anyway hope not to be harsh, but it can use some adjustments. Keep on doing the good work!

Hello Gilbert! That's a beautiful garden, your photo has the postal card feel, lovely composition too. Well done. I did quick workshop, if you don't mind.

Hi Gilbert!

Funny note. Maybe she rides in a Volkswagen to throw people off...not. :) Beautiful scene, colors, DoF with a great PoV! I love green. It looks like you got lucky with the weather to see a blue sky in England. :)

I'm amazed that you remember the town you stayed in as many places you've been. I went in 2000 for two weeks on business, and could see this castle from my hotel, but I can't remember the town I stayed in. I worked 12 - 14 hours a day, so I didn't do much site-seeing; however, I did drive into Windsor for dinner once. I liked this town.

Hi Gilbert,
A superb castle it is. You captured a small part of it, but it is beatiful this way. The garden with its colors, the architecture and the friendly sky behind it are a splendid combination.
