My contribution to this Friday's Theme,i would like to present you the Kalmar castle ,Sweden.
Its construction began in the 12th century as a fortified tower .Later on in the 1280s King Magnus Ladulas ordered the construction of a fortress around the tower and was further expanded in the centuries that followed. One of the most important political events took place right here in the Kalmar castle in 1397 when the Kalmar Union was formed- a union of Denmark,Sweden and Norway, organized by Queen Margaret 1 of Denmark. The fortress was improved during the 16th century under the direction of King Gustav Vasa and his sons who turned the fortress into a castle fit for a renaissance king.Today it is one of Sweden 's best preserved renaissance castle.Located on the east coast close to the Oland island bridge.
Photo was taken across the medieval harbour near the railway station,
Carol

This is a stunning shot to begin with, and the sepia really works well with it. Excellent use of the tree for natural framing and of the open spaces for composition strength. The crisp focus makes this a stand-out! Excellent

Great photo and POV
Love the tree in front so it creates more dept of field

Hi Carol,
very good foto and nice POV, I like the castle you take shot,
good work,
regards Karolina

Superbe capture.
Excellente netteté et détails.
Sujet bien cadré naturellement :-).
Bien vu
Pierre

A perfect harmony, I've heard a little about the Kalmar Union when I traveled in Scandinavia, but never had the chance to see how the place looks like.
Thank you for the historical comment too.

Salut Carol,
Belle prise .

Magnifique! Bravo! Annie

Hello Carol!
Really great sepia composition for Helens theme!
Beautiful castle and lovely your point of view!
The tree is old, too!
Best regards!
Lili

...I return with points... :)

Hello Carol,

This is a well conceived pov to create natural borders with the trees! Good sharp images and excellent dof. The refections are the added bonus!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Carol,
I like a lot your proposal... I particularly like the patterns on the tree, the loneliness of the landscape and the way to frame the castle... TFS, Marta

Superb tones for a superb compo !

thanks,
v

Hi Carol
What a brilliant shot you have here - I love your composition looking through the trunks of the tree.
And your sepia colour looks quich deep and rich - well done
Janice

Carol...

Once again you define the 'art of seeing' with this wonderful image.

Peter

Very pretty image, nice composition, i like those kind of image, where the objet in the front bring a new dynamic to an other one in the back...very well done.

Bonjour Carol!

Btavo!

Hi Carol,
Sma Land is one of my favorit suburbs in Sweden and the Castel you have framed in your camera is admiring. You really made me go back in my student days when I was student in Sweden.
The Picture is great award winning and I am becoming your fan. You did a wonderful job, Congrats. The tone matches the subject too good and the view through the "V" is making the picrure more attractive. Perfect sharpness and POV.

Great Job, keep doing the same and share with your internationl friends.

Good Luck

Robert

Great.

Mick
