The city of Horta
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Each morning I woke up early, opened the curtains and checked out the weather and cloud conditions. A few morning I just returned straight to bed as winter had not yet left the Azores. That morning I decided that even with the overcast, I needed to get some early morning photos and who knows the clouds would break and the sunrise would be there.|
Standing on top of a hill, looking of the city of Horta, I tried to wake up and think of the camera setting, what filter to use and getting the focus right. A juice box, power bar and cigarette did the trick and the result was quickly made.
I deliberately slowed down the shutter speed by using a two stop ND filter so that the movement in the cloud cover was captured. The shutter speed was 69 seconds.

fine nocturnal shot using a tripod. good sharpness of details/houses at night and nice play of lights and colors in the dark.

I like the distant lighting and amounts, it hones the erye in so well.
I love the shape of your coastline too.
Hello Niek, it isn't often that we see pictures of towns and cities like this, taken from a distance and with the lovely effect of the lights still shining out.
You were certainly wide awake to get it just right imo.
I like the reflected light across the water.
Beautiful capture of this city at dawn! I guess you are just like me, a photo fanatic who gets up very early in the morning to take pictures. Love the colors. Good pov and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.
