What fun to see you posted one storey below me in the gallery today
I like the PP work you did here. The sky works nicely.
I think I would brighten the buildings a little more and add just a touch more contrast to them so that they have the same quality as the sky.
Very fine work

I'm really glad that you described so well what you've done here. Although I would have no idea how to do it, it gives me a good idea of what CAN be done. A very beautiful picture!!! TFS

Hi John, good PP work & thanks for the how to notes, your quite right about Adobe, you do need to be a graphic designer
to use all of its functions,To me its like a giant iceberg,& for myself I'm only at the tip of it:0

- [2008-03-12 9:18]
Was wondering where all the shadows went to until I read your note.
Excellent PP work on the sky, bro.

Love the way you composed this shot and overlapping the building on the frame gives it even more depth.
I sympathize with you on learning photoshop I am also trying it.

You improved effectively your skills with Photoshop, dear friend! The addition of this sky gives a fantastic look at this already beautiful place. IMHO, if you gave more space on the top of the central building, the image could be better.
Very good work! Annie
Impressionnante prise de vue John ! Thanks to share it.
Excellent work really beautiful place.
Great detail and well presented.
Well done my friend.TFS
Hello John, your PP skills are certainly developing, the sky looks good. There is almost a feeling of 3-D in this shot, and I think that it is the sky that does it.I wouldn't have known about the building if you hadn't said.
The buildings give a good silhouette with their interesting shapes.
Tfs, regards Jean.
You are again a good master. This is beautifully done.
TFS this with us. And thanks for a good note.

Heel mooi , heel apart.
Heel gaaf Johnny :-)

Prachtige opname vol kleur
Very nice POV and love the PP done for the sky. (I'll try that technique on some photo with dull sky).
The sky compliments so well with the earthy tones of buildings.
Sharp and well composed photo. TFS

Yes why not John, such a beautiful place deserves a beautiful sky. Sometimes it helps to copy the picture and really lower the curves/gamma correction to make the sky darker and then place it back.
Seems to me that Zierikzee is the place to be judging from more pictures on TL.
Did you clone out people, cars, bikes and such?? Love it this way.
Beautiful result of your PP work! In my opinion, the sky past well with the rest of the photo. I like the vivid colours and the smooth effect of the entire photo which looks like a peinture. As Annie said, a little more sky in the upper side would be better.
And last but not least, I appreciate your "Sisyphean work" extending the house over the frame with a lot of copy/paste commands.
Have a nice evening,
I understand your feeling about learning PS, because I have the same one, not about this software, but learning the german language. :-)
- nunenik (1890)
- [2008-03-13 6:57]
What a wise choice I made to read your note! I like knowing when I'm right. For some reason I immediately thought the sky was copy/pasted. It just looks out of place since the buildings are so grey and it's obvious there was no blue sky or sunshine at the spot at the time. After all, the (amount of) light is always reflected on buildings and all other objects.
Why did you decide to bring in another sky anyway? Why not leave the original one?
Just an honest opinion (and question).
- feh2006 (106)
- [2008-03-13 8:28]
nice try, the clouds are very low and very blue and sharp compared to the rest. I can see that the street is almost as clean as in DK :-)
keep it up and stay on, TFS
A great picture John; and you say that you 'Imported' the blue sky and clouds?! Well I say - 'Well done'!
Excellent composition and good contrast and a very attractive scene.
hello Mr JT,
:) MEA CULPA? automatically remind me the song from Enigma 1st album..
well done on the pp work.. look like a beautiful above the sky with stunning clouds.. well composed with fine detail and sharpness.. thank you for the useful note too i like to try this myself but it take time..
I must learn this importing sky technique John, in this image very effective adding some contast. Good colour and detail and well composed. TFS,

Good luck with PS, I havn't been able to absorb all of Elements 5 yet. You did am excellent job with the sky and I'm a frame person, so I like you little trick here. Again well manipulated.

Striking presentation of this view, John, with the lines leading us in and a very adept display of the form of the architecture. As always, good colors, and especially vivid blue sky with those puffy clouds.

Interesting structural design . . Neat and tidy entrance . . very Dutch . .
Some places in Indonesia are using similar pole and curved road like this one . .
Great PoV . .
Many thanks for your kind words on Enjoying the flower .
Clever Johnty - I only know the basics of PS CS2, and I think that's as far as I'll go.
BRAVO on your effort here - that sky looks real - for this photo I mean. Very good results and the building shows up well too.
Do you shoot in RAW John?
Good one MF
Your MAXIMA CULPA ? :-)
And mine, then?
I think you are good enough in photoshop...
Would you nicely teach me something about? ;-)
I have always agreed with the latin Orazio:
CARPE DIEM QUAM MINIMA CREDULA POSTERO! :-)
The lighting difference between the sky and place with buildings is a bit curious, but the final effect of the whole compo is fully satisfying.

Very nice shot, fantastic sharpness and depth of field, beautiful vivid colors and excellent clarity, nice composition and point of view, nice textures and details, the sky is stunning!
Excellent scene and POV here John!
A great one to try replacing the sky with,
It has a very surreal quality as a result of this post processing.
Perhaps the lighting is a tad darker in the foreground subjects than one woudl expect with a sky like that,
but somehow that makes this all the more fun to see.
So great job!

Great 3-D effect here my first thought was wow that sky and then read the note. Still a WOW picture all in all

When I read your note it reminded me of what I've been telling myself: all I need to do is buy Photoshop when I retire and I'll have plenty to do!
About the photo: It still needs some more work because the buildings are obviouly under different lighting. Given 20 years, I'm sure you'll get it done. :-))
BTW: I look forward to meeting you someday (we'll probably be staying/living in Brussels in the not too distant future).
Fantastic blue sky with lovely clouds!
Nice architecture and beautiful calm place!
...I return... :)

There is nobody on the place. did you clone them all? According to your note, you spent lots of time on Photoshop bringing this creation to life.Good PP work. I think you will master the monster within 20 years.

Those clouds are simply fantastic. Clouds are always such a wonderful bonus to bring enthusiasm and beauty to any scenery. They also provide, in this case, a magnificent DOF. So, it was a wonderful idea to "import" this sky!
