Another picture of the studio day with the models and the digitalback for the Hasselblad. Some of you thought that the portrets where the close...so....a total shot.
hope you like it...and if you don't tell me why (if you do like it, tell me why)

Sorry to be so critical, but this shot is totally lacking a blend of the elements.

All is so harsh. She is the ultimate 'painted lady' ... and that ain't no complement.

Whatever effects you apply, whether it be by the likes of 'clear-skin' or simply by using the 'reduce noise' effect on PS .. ask yourself this: 'this effect I am applying ... is it life-like, is it true?'

In the case of this portrait ... NO.

Where is the gaussian blur? Where is the diffuse blur? There are a hundred ways in which to improve this shoot, but amazingly you could have made this shot 300% better by one simple technique ... no make-up!

This is an attractive female. Why the war-paint?

Get the lighting right (a few more shadows please) and we're there.

Hello Sjoerd,
I'm not familiar with your work but I had a look at your other portraits and I must say that I liked them very much; they are great close-up.

As for this one, my first impression is that this makeup gives the model a look a little too plastic, or is it the lightning? There is no shadow on her face and there is some on the rest of her body... I think that it is a little short cropped or framed in the upper part too. Anyway, details are very good in a nice POV. This is a nice shot overall. Hope you would not mind that I gave you my honest impression as you asked. BTW, you have a wonderful gallery :-) TFS,
Claudine
