[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This portrait is taken with the hasselblad 503, with a Leaf digital back. No this is not mine, but i could use it for a afternoon at the academy in Amsterdam. I used 3 softboxes, one high as man light and two on both sides of the main light. The efect was a very soft light but still a bit a shadow working (main light was +1). The post proces was sharpening (75%, 2 levels, theshold 3) and skin softening and framing for TL.

Super toestel natuurlijk. Mooi portret. Alleen de onderste (vierkante) reflecties in haar ogen storen mij een beetje.

Hi sjoerd
A nice portrait , you took it well . I read your note about this photo , it's perfect and I give it useful mark .
Have a good time

i know the hassleblad having used the bronica poor mans copy and some fuji 6x7 land cameras..
for a portrait...eyes sharp..skin tones light and soft
your lighting gives you all this and you got pretty close..for a woman that is disconcerting normally unless she is quite confident and this shows in the strong facial expression here..
my workshop is merely to experiment with techniques which i hope to employ if i ever get a subject like this.

I hate to be so critical, since I am no expert portrait photographer and have never even been in the same room with a Hasselblad, but a few things about this portrait bother me: 1) I can see three points of light in her eyes, from your three lighting instruments, and that looks odd to me. Gives her a kind of cyborg look. 2) The color/texture of her skin seems off -- especially around her cheeks and nose. It's either a focus or a makeup issue (or maybe the skin-softening you did in post), but, just personally, it's not pleasing to my eye. 3) I think it's cropped too close. She's has lovely blonde hair and a high forehead, but it's been surpressed. Just my personal thoughts. Hope you don't mind. -Hugh (PS: I've looked at your gallery and you take beautiful photos, so this is not a personal criticism; just thoughts about this particular image.)

Very nice portrait, I like the expression of your model, composition, colours...

Wat heeft ze veel lichtjes in haar ogen
Mooie huid tonen
Indringende blik
