It was only for about half a day that we had the luck to have a winter wonderland in our country. Later that evening snow changed to rain and by next morning all snow was gone and from that moment on it kept on raining and the temperatures are again too high for the time of season.

I am glad I grabbed the opportunity with both hands by leaving work early. Since it seems that real winter weather is becoming something special.

This photo was also taken in the shire of the landgrave of Rechteren Limpurg Almelo. This area migh look really rural, but in fact the city is just behind me. The shire is a kind of protected area where no housing development is allowed. This causes the city of Almelo to build right up to the border of the shire. Making this a little piece of heaven in a city.

I converted the photo to black and white, since there wasn't much color in it anyway. It also helped me to get better contrast and highlight the parts that I wanted to become focalpoints. This was taken during a rather heavy snow fall, so when you think you see noise, it is actually snow.

Great composition Niek, The photo has a great feeling to it. The essence of winter. Excellent.

Mooi!

Hello Niek,
As I see you don't have real winter so far. Here it began 3 weeks ago I guess but it is rather late. It is very cold these times. I like the POV and composition a lot here. Exposure and texture are great too. I like this nostalgic mood, this is very well seen and done :-) Thanks :-)
Claudine

This is a lovely little piece of rural land next to the city. Very nice atmosphere with the snow falling. I like the composition.

Hello Niek.. WOW I love this one..

I have a thing about fences..they always look so interesting, and I want to take a photo of them..but one has to get the composition correct for them to look really good.... just as YOURS does here..

Im glad you converted it to B&W, as it enhances it even more.

I like the foreground interest, and also the moody blurred look of the BG trees.. well done on this photo.. Im glad you left work early to capture this.

Thank you.
and kind regards
Dawn.

Hi Niek

This is just wonderful. I wish we had this instead of the rain. I love the trees looming out of the BG. The fence that would normally ruin a picture looks great with the angle you have taken it add. On this photo I can also safely say..great B&W shot :)

Oh I love this picture! I didn't have the luck to have a view like that. It only snowed in the midday and even that was crappy. Nothing of the snow remained once it had hit the ground. But OK, it had snown. Finally. But why not with Cristmas :)

Great shot.

Excellent work Niek! I like the choice of black and white. The compostion is first rate and the sharpness of the fence is perfect. The loan tree on the left adds a nice touch. I like it!

Niek,
The B&W is perfect here. I think the POV is superb. it gives it great perspective. I'm a big fan of your work and I think this one's fantastic! Well done and keep up the great photography.
I hope you quickly took the opportunity to build a snowman!
Scott

Hi Niek,
Another moody winter landscape scene. The use of the fence to create some leading lines does wonders here. Kind of makes me feel chilled and damp just looking at it. Great feel of depth.
Scott

I really like this shot, can't really put into words why, it is just the feeling it evokes in me. It isn't an exciting shot, just a soothing one that makes me think relaxation. I really like that it is in b/w, I think that was a perfect choice. The soft foggy BG adds to the soothing look of the photo. The trees add some detail and depth to the shot and draw the eye clear across the meadow. The snow on the outside of the fence add a little more to the secure feel of the fence, it is as if it gives the fence more weight against whatever it is there to keep out/in. The simplistic white frame helps to add depth to the hues that are captured in this shot. TFS

Prachtig punt Niek, heeel mooi genomen!
schitterende plaat.

Hi Niek,
it's a little sad - but I like it very much.
So silent, I can cool down after a day full of stress. It's very good in black/white, a beautiful view, thanks

Congrats,

Wow, this is wonderful ... perfectly balanced composition and, even though it is spring outside, I really wish I could have seen this scenery in a real life. Love it!

How did I miss this one?? I love how the fence comes in at one angle and exits at another! And the corner is off center! Very nice! Love these types of shots! Very hard sometimes, with everything white to get enough contrast! You did a great job here!
