...or: Carnival in Venice [II].

We spent 4 days in Venice during the famous Carnival.
What a splendid event, and so... calm, so dignified. In Belgium everything is so utterly nervous, so exaggerated, it's all about forcibly having fun, with loads of booze...
A world of difference!

Downside, of course, was the crowd. It was nearly impossible to take portraits of these beautifully costumed persons without disturbing people in the background.

This model was posing near San Marco basilica. I liked the three faces in this scene, her mask, the Buddha face, and one of the four Tetrarchi in the back.

In-camera compo.

Adjustment layer for curves.

Downsized, framed & signed with a couple of recorded PS actions.

Geia sou Frank

A very attractive and impressive composition with those famous Venician masks. I'm really jealous ;( having missed such beautiful scenes in the streets of the city. I'm glad keen fotographers like you were there to capture them

Have a good week and TFS

Hi Frank,
I think this is really the true colors of this famous Carnival!
A mix of gray and golden tones alternating with the dusky and bright effects. This makes me think that this carnival must be also a mix of nostalgia and joy moods. Sometimes, we like that our rememberance of History is stronger than was to its reality !
I like much your very beautiful photo photo! Annie

ciao Frank

Hi Frank

A superb juxtapositioning, of the eastern Buddha styled mask at left, & the traditional Italian mask, at right. Good sharpness & framing. Well done!

Salve Frank
wonderful mask and a good photo with quality
perfect for my opinion

Marco

denkt.

Groetjes
Jan
