Very interesting to see your view of the fashion world through this building architecture interior look. Many of us are conceived rightly or wrongly of Paris and France being the fashion world, but your portrayal of Italy in particular Milan has reminded a perspective of the fashion scene. The brand Chanel is of course what it is, a popular brandname. Good to follow your series.

Did you know that it was the first covered gallery to have an iron and glass structure?
It has a sad story, too...
Wonderful b&w rendering of an image that could stand as a classic.
I am really glad to be able to be in Milano again, thanks to your eyes!

We need good taste in photography too, and this photo seems a good example. The w.&B. enhances the graphic effect. It reminds me of a photographic style that was fashionable in the seventies... good travel and architecture photo.

An amazing signature treatment you applied here José.
It's as if the architecture takes on new depths of meaning and mood.
Great light control, a well lit interior. Perect POV.

I love the look of almost mirrored, giving and idea of the vastness of the place. Yes I also wish creators like Coco would come back and give us the great and elegant fashions we used to have.
Great note and shot

dear josè, i walk teh galleria many tiomes a week and yet you manage to surprize me with your ortiginal take the b/w choice is just perfectand in perfect harmony with the absolute simplicity and real CLASS coco chanel introduced usto and is now so sorely missed
i join your prayer for the return of true style which is almost synonimous with simplicity . never a butto or a stitch too many or a color too many : great lesson obviously now well forgotten by the pseudo gurus of style
never mistake "much" for "better"...
thank you for reminding us

Ciao Jose, great POV for a fantastic view of gallery, splendid B&W with great perspective, very well done, ciao Silvio
Excellent wide shot with monocolor tone.
Good details and lighting. Juts want to mention that if you went 3 or 4 steps to the right, you'd reach a better balance.

Your POV well shows the perfect architectural symetry of the Galleria. The B&W choice leads us back to the end of XIXth cy or the beginnning of the 20th; a good choice especially since you focused in your note on Coco Chanel
- jorgi (519)
- [2009-01-15 0:23]
excellent angle provided with a help of one of my favourite lens: Sigma 10-20mm...
It creates most wide spaceous view over crowded Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II. Sepia tones create a feeling of timeless scene and stress the work of art through architectural elements.
Excellently captured and presented.

- [2009-01-15 1:12]
as usual, perfect story in the image, and so arthistic view. Love pov and BW format. You captured and made another peace of art. I enjoyed reading NOTE too and I must say I agree with you.
Have a nice day!

Nice, panoramic view.
Fine using distortion in the frame, well done!
P.S. About coffee. We think that it was already drinking in the customs, by the "good guys"!Hahahahahahaha...Recently, the Chief of the "Russia Mail" was retired (probably, for the "good job"). Because this, we must drink the coffee from Finland or Germany primary. :( However, we are still waiting for it!

I guess we can say that a photo really "works" when it's capable of showing us something we know well from a different perspective, making us look at the same road we've been down so many times before, or the same person we've met every day for so many years, with different eyes.
this picture succeeds in this, and choosing b/w makes it basically timeless - it could have been shot 30 years ago and you would not be able to tell the different. and this means that the image says something that goes beyond the contemporary. it's a busy place with busy people walking through their busy lives. and while they're busy, many forget to observe, forget to stop and reflect upon certain things. so to me this image epitomizes a state of mind, a lifestyle, a "go with the flow" that's turned bad. fashion being one big, superficial part of it. a slavery indeed.
