Basilica of Saint Benedict
Translated from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The Basilica of San Benedetto is located on what, according to tradition, was the birthplace of Saints Benedict and Scholastica were born in 480 DCDA a noble family, as reported by St. Gregory the Great in his Dialogues. The front, side door (now walled up) and the base of the tower belong to the end of the century. XIV. The side walls have been traced back to a height only during the restoration which ended in 1958, were demolished then the vaults of the side porch and began to light the pointed arch doorway with the structures of three upper windows belonging to the fourteenth-century factory . The Porch of the measures was leaning against the right side of the church around 1570 by the will of the City and the ecclesiastical authorities, with the aim of creating a kind of covered market in cereals. The side over the bell tower, the transept is reinforced by a speronatura within which opens a kiosk with a fresco depicting the Madonna with the Infant Jesus of late Gothic painter. This fresco was recovered from "An exhibition, a restoration."
The Basilica is in the shape of a Latin cross with a single nave. The apse and the cap is at the intersection of the transept and are presented in the forms of eighteenth-century reconstruction. With the restoration of the '50s has come back up the triumphal arch fourteenth century, the only surviving evidence of the Gothic nave. In connection with the work of Jubilee 2000, at the instigation of the Archbishop Riccardo Fontana of Spoleto-Norcia (now bishop of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro) important changes have been made inside the basilica: the floor, the altar, the new the crypt, the arrangement of the archaeological below, the retrofitting of the former Benedictine monastery. On December 2, 2000 in Norcia Benedictine community called "Mary Seat of Wisdom" led by Father Cassian Folsom OSB

Love the mood you have captured in this daily life shot, Silvio!
The architecture of the buildings is amazing and contrasts are well shown.
Good POV and well caught DOF too.
Nice work!

Ciao,
Paras

Hi Silvio.

I love the old building, it shows much character and interest, you chose an appealing angle to show this off, worthy notes too.
I'm a little concerned with the sky, was it added to this as i see a different tone through the bell tower and a distracting line to the right were the sky meets the land.

Awesome capture of this beautiful church against a darkening sky. I like the lone person, it gave the structure perspective. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Hi Silvio,
You managed to produce great exposure despite the dull day. The grey clouds contrast well with the beautiful stone color of the Basilica. Perfect sharpness and a very neat presentation.
Enjoy your Weekend.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hello Silvio,
What a beautiful image, my friend. The space in front and the beautiful sky at the back ... and then the fabulous basilica. Beautiful composition with the diagonal lines in the FG leading up to the church with its strong vertical lines and beautiful shapes and patterns. And then up to the crosses at the top .... a real visual crescendo. A pleasure to behold.

Hi Silvio

Excellent capture of the architecture and the buildings.fantastic shot Silvio.
Well done

Hi Silvio,

The wideness of the square is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the Basilica di San Benedetto. The cloudy sky is gicing a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

I love the simplicity of colour in this shot. It somehow makes it more dramatic and unsettling. Nicely done

Hi Silvio,

I do like your treatment of this photo, it reminds me of the 50's.

The diagonal line from the bottom left leads the eye to that beautiful architecture.

Wishing you and your family a very happy Christmas.

Peter.
