[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In 1396, Gian Galeazzo Visconti, Duke of Milan, feeling a rather heavy burden on his conscience, due to his somehow unholy life, decided to build a church with adjoining monastery where 24 Carthusian monks could pray ceaselessly God to forgive him his sins, while he carried on enjoying himself with his dissolute life.
Whether that worked with God or not, I do not know. What I know is that his sense of guilt and his plea for mercy gave birth to one of the most wonderful pieces of art, full of sculptures, paintings and terracotta, which was left to mankind as a testimony of the artistic capabilities of the Lombard craftsmanship of that time.
The Certosa di Pavia is a piece of art that deserves a visit.

The ceiling in the photo has never been re-painted, restored or retouched. Itís original.

Hi there Arturo, I don't think that would have worked, but we have this beautiful architecture to remember him by.
Wonderful composition and POV showing the amazing artwork and craftsmanship. And it's still the original!! Wow, they don't build, paint, etc., like they used to, do they? Well shown, thank you.
And the notes are very interesting too.

Great POV and sharpness in this picture. Lots of great details to look at. I might have cropped out the window on the far top right corner as I think it distract a bit from the ceiling. Also too bad for the bright light on the middle pillar which hides some details. But overall very well done.

It certainly shows that it pays to look up from time to time!!!

Very nice composition with an excellent POV. the artwork is really very good.

Beautiful art work Arturo.
Indeed wonerful
I love the beam of lighgt in the centre. makes a very special effect and brings up the details and teh atmosphere around
Well Done!

take care, Stef

ps: forgot to meaniton. again your frame (IMHO) fights a bit withe the artwork, since it is one by itself. maybe a plain one would be more adequate...again a quetion of taste...

Hi Arturo,
what a nice composition. Beautiful colours and good sharpness.
Nino

nice POV... i like the colors and the shapes that you make into the frame...

Arturo, both your beautiful photo and the note you accompanied it with are wonderful. The sharp details, the composition, the DoF, the details of the cathedral ceiling are truly marvellous. I wish I could go there one day... Italy is my most favourite country on the back of this earth!

Really nice POV. Roofs and celings are not easy to capture, you have done an excellent job. Very informative note too.
Sunil
