My first trip to Rome and the Vatican! Amazing it's taken so long to get here as I've been all over Europe. It turns out that Rome is a fascinating city - well, that's an understatement!!!!!
The crowds though were intense, there was no way I was waiting in a queue for 3 hours to get into either the Basilica here or the VAtican Museum, so just shot a couple of shots of the Square...

It was a dull day so 3 exposures made from one RAW image and merged as HDR. Little dodging and burning and frame added.

Hi David,
A splendid postcard of the Vatican. Great HDR effect and perfect sharpness and neatness.
I like the geometry you created with the road sign which nearly framed the marvelous basilica!
An adequate letter box crop to dramatize this famous landmark!
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Vatican is really beautiful , full of impressive architecture...it is delicious ...the definition you achieve in the photo is really impressive. Congratulations David.
Um abrašo

It has been many years since I was here ..I won't say how many :) There were no queues then.
Fantastic wide shot, showing so much of this fabulous place. The buildings are as sharp as can be. The greyness of the sky is a good balance with the greyness of the square below. Great shot David.

Hi DAvid,

Another marvelous contribution from your side!
Great panoramic view from the Saint Peter Square with such wonderful details!

The light is superbly managed and the exposure is great. The texture of the floor does play an important role in enhancing the overall beauty of the shot. The facade of the wonderful buildings get nice contrast from the sky. Well seen!

Hi David,
I like the sharpness and the contrast in this shot, excellent control of the HDR process.
Its an image I would like to 'view in large' to see more of the detail, its a pity that you can't view images in full screen mode but I suppose the quality would be lost

Hello David,
the architecture am wonderful , very good details and clear colours. a big scenery in a marvelousness sharp picture. very good contrast and colours.
Best regards.

Hi David,

The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The distance from the square to the basilica is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the building of the city of Vatican. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi David, I visited Rome 11 years ago - I'm sorry I didn't have a digital camera then. I loved Italy... And it is the one place I really want to return to.
Lovely shot of the square here, and especially the buildings - sorry you never got to see inside them. We managed somehow - think we ducked under some ropes to get into the Vatican and got to St Peters that way. Awesome paintings and statues to see.
Good PP word on your HDR result

Nice photo, and I like the offset pattern in the paving too.
