Some time ago, on this website, i saw an ErikSven's photo titled "Winter Knot".I was pleasantly impressed by it, particularly by the abstraction that can be drawn also from most concrete things. One cold morning of last winter, just out from the hotel where i was staying, i stumbled on the tracks of a roe deer (Capreolus Capreolus) that clearly departed in the snow from a barbed wire fence.A splendid example of freedom that only nature can give.

Colour image converted into B/W by desaturation, contrast 100% increase and brightness 20% lowered.

Hello Alessio,

I like it that you have been inspired by another photographer and adapted the idea to your own photograph.
This is minimalistic; like a story that has been told by clues rather than the whole scenario.
Good use of thirds composition, and with the trail leading diagonally towards a corner.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Alessio,
I like the mood in your shot and the lack of colour with the strong white of the snow and dark silhouette of the fence, nice minimal shot giving a big picture, like it. Best wishes

Simple and very powerful. Works weel in B&W. No burnout on the snow and black in the fence.

Very original abstract like artistic capture...perfect exposure with good use of leading lines and the shear simplicity of this shot makes it special- well done!

I only now discover this photo, Alessio. Thanks for the eye wink ;o).

Of course I like this kind of shots. You achieved a minimalistic yet subtle composition, with an interesting play of lines. The diagonal of the traces in the snow is an extra.

Compared with my photo, you did a better job on light management I think: your snow is less greyish than on my photo and you have nice nuances and textures in it.

TFS & kind regards,

Ciao Alessio
buona serata

Hi Alessio, this one caught my eye going for a stroll through your gallery. It reminds me of time spent living in the snow and seeing the untouched snow with just a single set of animal tracks like these.I swear sometimes they must fly over the fences.. Fiona
