This was taken at Margret of New Orleans cottage which was constructed on the site of her birth place.
She was an amazing lady, and emigrated to New Orleans with her famiy when she was 5 years old.

The bottomhalf of the door was closed in order to keep the chickens and hens out. The top half would be open to let the fresh air in. This is the irion kettle they used for boiling water years ago.
The horse shoe was for good luck and health. |
