Everything is calm and silent around the church and the nearby cemetery... The image was taken on a foggy New Year's Day in a small Hungarian mountain village, Bükkszentkereszt.
No computer afterwork was done on the photo, I only resized for TrekLens.

Some information about the region:

The Bükk Mountains (IPA: [bykː]; literally Beech Mountains) are a section of the Carpathian Mountains in northeastern Hungary. Much of the area is included in the Bükk National Park.

Although Kékes, the highest point in Hungary, is not here but in the nearby Mátra Mountains, the average height of the Bükk Mountains–with more than 20 peaks higher than 900 m–exceeds that of Mátra. The highest point of Bükk is Istállóskő (958 m), third highest in Hungary after Kékes and Galyatető.

There are 853 known caves in the mountain range, including István-lápa, the deepest cave in Hungary (250 m), the archaeologically important Szeleta cave, the Cave Bath (a main tourist attraction of Miskolc-Tapolca, the Anna Cave, and the István Cave. 45 of the caves are protected because of their fauna and microclimate.

The mountain is also famous for its skiing facilities located around "Bánkút". There are a number of maintained ski slopes equipped with several J-bar lifts. The long traditions of skiing - on the racing and recreational levels - in Bükk are fostered by local enthusiasts constituting the "Bánkút Ski Club" also in charge of operating and developing one of the largest alpine ski centres in Hungary.

Interesting perspective and subject that work very well with the fog. You were in the right place at the right time.

Well done Kristof.

Hi Kristof

A really excellent shot and aptly categorized under Moods. The fog, colour, trees and church - everything works well together.

Esther

Hi Kristof,
Nice composition and lines in this picture. I like how you show the street in both directions. Nice palcement of the church in the frame. The fog creates a mystical tone with this capture. Nice work.

Hi Kristof,
Quite nice scenery and POV. The scenery is very typical for central Europe, that's why I like it so much! Could you tell what was the focal lenght?

Lukas

Hi Kristof,
Very pleasent scene of this beautiful church. I would have avoided the road in the composition. The mist adds someting to the photo.

Hi Kristof,

this photo is amazing, like from a thriller, great shot ;)! i was once in Hungary & i really loved that place, especially Budapest!
take care,

Magda

Some nice detail Kristof even through the fog. Possibly the best POV to get the view of the Church through the gate. Good colour and you used the available light well,
David

Hi Kristof,

Of course I immediately looked in your theme, quite inspirational and lovely pictures to be seen.
A quiet New Years day this is. The composition is beautiful with the road forming a V-shape to "embrace" the church.
A good thing the gate to the church is half opened, that somehow looks more inviting.

Lovely job,

Thanks!

Els

You got a special ambience here Kristof, the snow, the fog. An interesting POV too. Well you touched me somewhere.

Iso.
