Well, back home now - or, as they say in Scotland, "Back to auld claes and porridge". We're just back from a wonderful relaxing week's holiday in Corfu. Oh, that it could have been longer!

Weather, by and large, was very good: not too warm, lots of lovely sunshine and very little rain though what rain we had was very heavy.

This was a view from the little villa which we rented for the week - a lovely little place overlooking the small coastal village of Agios Stefanos. There are at least two other places called Agios Stefanos in Corfu - this one is in the northeast of the island and you can see the location if you look at Map:[view]. Albania lies only two or three kilometers away in the distance across the Ionian Sea.

I shall try to upload some more interesting photos in the next few days. Shot in RAW using a polarising filter and converted and edited in PSE6. The original image showed the foreground with the pool very bright and the area beyond very dark indeed - possibly due to over-enthusiastic use of the polariser: I had to use the Lighten Shadows/Darken Highlights feature in PSE6 to reduce the effect to believable proportions.

All comments/critiques/advice welcome!

Hello John,

I can vouch for the relaxing nature of Corfu. It was our very first visit to Greece, many years ago, and we loved it!
I like your shot for its contrasts. The light, relaxing part and the slightly forbidding distant lands. You did a good job with your pp.
The steps, to the pool, are well positioned and invite us to take a dip into the shot. I think I'll remain in the pool and just gaze over the wall at the distance.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

A lovely photo John - very rich colour from the CP and the contrast between the light blue and dark blue is excellent with the frame divided into bands of 1/3rds! The Med light is some of the best anywhere in the world.. You've caught it well.
