[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A few weeks ago I had to go on a business trip to our factory in Germany. I decided to leave on Sunday morning to get into town on time to spend some hours in the Hamburg Zoo. Considering weight and priority I brought along two lenses and my older 40D camera. Throughout the entire visit I mostly used only one lens and forced myself to work with its reach on zoom and aperture.

The ocean world like section has a wonderful underground part where you can see sea lions, penguins and this Walrus from below. When I arrived at the Walrus tank I noticed the many people staring into the tank. I decided to stand back and see what would happen. After a little while the Walrus came down below and made this wonderful eye contact with the crowd.

Hi Niek
Great capture of this very special moment. Good choice of b/w and I like the bright white around the walrus. Who's watching who?.

I like the effect you produced, the High Key and the audience as sillhouette helps to highlight the main attraction.

The dark silhouette in the foreground contrasted with the blown-out white background makes this a real eye-catcher! The expression is certainly a result of perfect timing.
Great option to convert to black and white too!
