|Lake Königssee lies just a couple of miles south of the town of Berchtesgaden and is Germany's deepest and cleanest lake.|
This area has been used for outdoor recreation for centuries; Bavarian royalty and the local rulers of Berchtesgaden and Salzburg hunted here, Hitler went boating on the lake, and Eva Braun liked to sunbathe on the shore.
The Königssee is a wonderful example of a crystal-clear alpine lake.

WOW- this is such a beautiful scene. The small island between the huge canyon walls makes a great subject. The back lighting is really nice with the steamboat in the picture as an added bonus. Well timed and photographed scene. I bet you can vividly recall in your mind exactly what this place looked like. TFS Julie

Stunning, made even more so with the lack of sky.
The slightly OE mountain in the BG has really accented the greenery on the small island, well seen and TFS.
Wow. Having a beautiful scene always helps getting a good photograph, and this is a beautiful scene. An interesting subject composed very well and the haze in the background adds a feeling of great depth within the photo. The boat on the left does seem to lack a little detail, but thats very minor in my opinion.
