Under the rain, again, here's a part of the Castle of Gordes, a beautiful medieval village.

''The castle and the church, which dominate the village, impress their stature upon the visitor, as if to protect Gordes'inhabitants and extend upon them their respective influences, as was the case in the past.

The castle, rebuilt in 1525 already, existed in 1031. Well preserved, and carefully restored, it brings together the architecture of the troubled medieval period with the new ways of the Renaissance.

This imposing monument is strongly guarded with its round machicolated towers bearing terraces for the artillery. Three storeys of "Renaissance windows" have been pierced in the tall curtain walls and today, one can still notice many a cleverly located arrow slit on all the surfaces of the construction (towers, walls and bartizan). The South façade opens up towards the sun, facing the old town. Behind the fountains, a vaulted passageway pierced into the wall opens onto a courtyard leading to a monumental spiral staircase, which connects the entire building.''

A very dramatic post Mario - wonderful sky as a BG for this tower.. I like again the wide angle perspective with the wide lens..
Mood - you've certainly got that with this image.

Cheers
DAvid

Very cool shot, it's the lighting I think that makes this shot. It is simply amazing and a great capture. A very small looking castle it seems. Very nice shot, TFS.

Bonjour Mario.

Urs

Hello Mario,
Interesting picture and story.
What a pity that it was raining again!
Is that the reason that the picture is a little dark below?
But I like it anyway:)
t.f.s.and greetings,
Frieda.

Hi Mario,
this is mystic and the sky so angry and dramatic.
I love this view up and the light on the tower.
Fascinating post, thanks

Hi, Marion. This is a beautiful photo with the dark clouds giving a contrast.I congratulate you on a excellent choice of the POV. Your choice of framing also goes along with the subject. The composition and the colors are very good. Cheers.

Outstanding. Great POV, rich tones and colours and just the right POV for this one. The sky is spectacular and beautifully controlled, as is the rest of the image; sharp, clear.

The cyclist at the bottom is subtle, an easy detail to miss, but adds a good sense of scale.

hi Mario, another wide angle to shot a singular construction, taking best advantage of the bad weather conditions to make it look more dramatic.

Hello dear Mario!

Amazing and dramatic shot. Very beautiful tones and mood. Dramatic sky with great details of the architecture from a low POV that gives good DOF. The inclusion of the woman with her dog gives life to the shot or it will seem as antique. Very nice and historic architecture.

TFS, indeed lovely POV!

Best Regards,
Ali

Ciao Mario, great view of splendid castle against a fantastic grey sky, wonderful POV, very well done, have a good Sunday, ciao Silvio

Hi Mario,
I like your perspective with the
backward tilt. The structure looks
grand against the dark sky. Clear and
sharp architectural details. Well done.
Enjoy your day.

Annie
