A very clean minimalist cover with only one photo.

This is a spread of both front and back.

Text on front is the TE motto with "world" emphasised with dark red and "photography" with black.

Text on back is "mission statement" or some other nice text.

The large number is a suggestion that there could be more than one TE book. And of course it's a graphic device too.

The TE coloured band in the middle is the spine of the book.

Another good design. In some ways I prefer this one - but then I'm a firm believer in "less is more", artistically at least ;)

The only question is, should the number be the book number, or the year?

This is Fantastic Torben.. I like this less work too... Superb.. u have a great idea.

This is certainly the most elegant proposal to-date Torben. I'm not surprised in the least that a Dane would have produced such a design, especially one who happens to design things for a living... ;-)

The only element that doesn't work for me is the spine of the book. Personally, I've always been underwhelmed by the color palette used in the TrekEarth logo. I've no doubt that I'm a minority of one on the issue since so many folks objected to the fact I didn't include the logo in my earliest iteration. My preference would be bright red spine with white letters.

Incidentally, I've included that photo in a number of my designs. I believe it is a particulary powerful image. I'd be very content with that as the single image appearing on the cover.

Fine work here.

black and white covers joined by a color band!
minimalist - just the way i like audio components and the recording chain!
the engineer in me loves the efficiency
which leads me to state that i have no quals to assess the "graphic device" ;-)

Yes torben, very well made! i really like this one!

Just a though... why 01 and not 05 we could use that as the year of edition

I am fond of minimalistic style
this one is great too Torben

the most elegant so far, no doubts, but i ask myself whether having a single image in the cover will not go against the democratic spirit of TE...
ahhhh, that spine in brown :(

Beautiful, Torben, in all it's simplicity, this is a very classy design. That ONE small, but very strong picture is really beautiful in that empty space.
I even think it's a waste of the design to put the TE logo on the spine, at least in those colors.
A very strong one!

hey Torben! this layout and the one that Sandip presented are by top 2 choices for the book cover. i love the design in this one, very clean and elegant - it sort of invites the reader to learn more inside. I think that the words TrekEarth should also appear on the front cover though. the white text/black background for the back also gives it a cool photo negative appearance. I agree with Adrian's comment about putting the year instead of the book number - kinda like a yearbook for TE :)

Hello Torben,
I like this one, may be one of my favorite, II think a cover book should stay sober and simple, this one gathers the conditions...
Very well done
Luan

This is supercool, very minimalistic and graphic. Both those qualities appeal to me. It's still a little sterile for my tastes: I think the black back cover is a bit heavy; what about a kind of medium chocolate brown (I can hear Isabel screaming)? And maybe making the front cover elements a little bit larger in proportion to the cover. But generally I like it.

except for the book spine, this is the best proposal out there for me. elegant and simple
