|As I promissed in my last country post, here is a capture of a traditional village carnival, which is held anually before Easter Lent (fasting). Indeed, carnivals are held in many parts of the Earth, the most famous of which is probably the Rio da Janeiro one, which is also on February. The mummers here, clad in devilish dresses and wearing big bells know why they are dancing: the ancient ritual aims to be so fearful as "to scare the winter and all other evils away"... The word "carnival" sounds so much like "meat of a bull" in many European languages, that it is obviously connected with pre-Chritian sacrifices and shamanic dances, don't you think? Later, with acseptance of Christianity, carnivals were adapted to Christian events, like Christmas or Easter...|
