|Everywhere I went looking for little souvenirs to bring back for myself as a reminder of my trip, I found these little hand-made wooden turtles in a variety of colours and designs. They were too cute with their little woobly heads to pass up on, so I took home four of them and they now call my desk home.|
What I observed at the various gift shops and kiosks was that a lot of colour is present in their art and also much of their designs seemed to be abstract in terms of style. A lot of beaded necklaces and bracelets were also out for purchase, but as these can be found anywhere really, I opted for something less available for when I go back home. No piece would ever be identical to the one beside it which I loved, very unique.
I don't actually think the turtle symbolizes anything in particular to Punta Cana/Dominican Republic, maybe just a feel for the beach and warm tropical weather? To me these symbolize a cute turtle family which I know I soon will have to give up as they are too cute and adored by everyone who sees them.
