[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last fall I had a short holiday on Koh Samui after a two week business trip in Singapore. On one of the vacations days I decided to go sea fishing and hopefully eat some really fresh fish. Just after we left the harbor I came across the scene. To me it represents the tropics. Blue sky, blue water, small green islands and a local fisherman returning home after a night of fishing.

The photo may look tilted, but be aware that there is only a small part of horizon visible.

Hi Niek,
A lovely shot indeed. superb composition and the boat in the centre adds a special element to the image. I love the colours and the cloud formation over the island.

A fine photo, well planed, precise and very good done. An excellent POV and shallow DOF, good exposure and beautiful colors \nd details.
Ah, and a nice panorame.
Great work.

Very good pov, saturation and sharpness. The way the water has merged with the sky is beautifully illustrated.
As you noted, the picture is not tilted. The problem is that the masses of green forest in the right side, the darker blue of the lower right of the water and the boat being oriented towards left, deceives the eyes. In persian caligraphy, this problem is solved by raising the end of the line.

Hi Niek,

I have been to Ko Samui a few times and this is a superb capture excluding the runaway development that has spoilt much of the island over the past 20 years. Timeless! Good color & sharpness & the horizon line is inconsequential. Tfs!

Hello Niek, this is a lovely study in blue, good composition and focus.

A pity your horizon isn't straight, picture postcard perfect otherwise.
