This is my first of my short series on "Texture". I had been thinking of posting this long long time ago but now that TL is here, it makes my decision ti give this a go real fast. I have been using this picture as my desktop background because of its very relaxing effect.

I don't know the name of this plant. I think it belongs to the lily family. Its leaves are as big as a carpet. It has a rich texture too. During our field trip to Kanchanaburi, I saw this leaf i a pond. When I came back the next day, it grew even bigger. I took a lot of shots of this beautiful leaf and I am posting this one. For those who know what it is, please let me know. I think it is not indigenous to Thailand.

You right Manny surely a relaxing texture and colour as well - I also like the purple water to frame the plant.

Funny I have been thinking of posting my desctop background too - better do it soon.

Really nice picture and also, fun to see something so difrent coming from you Manny. The post process work is also very well done. You have achived an intresting effect. The leaf almost looks painted but the water and soil is very clear. I like the way you have let the leaf fill the frame an di like that you are not showing the whole leaf (you might have noticed, i always crop some part of my macros :))

And i know what i'll be doing tonight...searching in my "Botanica" for the name of this plant ;)

Really nice Manuel, the colour and rexture is wonderful. Posting your desktop is an interesting idea, I wonder how many people would like to join in this?

And a fine study in texture it is indeed, Manny. A wonderful pattern of shapes and lines, and the less textured part of another leaf at the top left is a fine addition. Great colors, of course, not only on the leaves but I also like the reddish border around the leaf, and the purple water. Great shot.

"My desktop picture" actually sounds like it might make a fun theme here on TL. Maybe if a few more folks post theirs, we should open one ;-)

Nature is just so perfect! At least God is, since he is the creator! This is really great Manny - I like it. Different - I have never seen leaves like this, so hopefully someone will be able to identify it. I am also curious about this. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing shot Manny. Very professional, very impressive. I love the composition and framing. Well done.

Very tasteful cropping of a wonderful piece of natural Art... :o)
Well composed, sharp and bright, the structure of the leaves is almost touchable. I like this a lot!

superbe détails, j'aime beaucoup la couleur et la luminosité, le cadre est sympa aussi!

Great texture, looking at it for too long draws the eye repeatedly to the centre- an effect I like. The colours are very rich, perhaps at the expense of the texture? Great shot.

Nice shot Manuel! Great colours and sharpness here. Techture is superb...
Nice shot. Well done!

that green is very nice to see. I like the you framed to 2 leaves here. Nice shot!

Great composition, Manuel - even the thumbnail is impressive. Both the green and the textures are excellent. Well framed.

Very nicely framed and good color. I think this is call Victorian lily.

nice shot manny! But what happened to you? this framing is awful IMO;-( sorry to be so blunt but it does not pay tribute to the photo, it is both disturbing and too present! And you sign your pics now too? what happened to the manny I once thought i knew a little? nice pic though;-)

Indeed a textured image Manuel. Very good combo with great detail.
Excellent photo!

Gorgeous and richly colored. The leaf is full of radiating patterns and textures. I like that you have filled the frame. Well done.
